The Royal Oak, Farnham Common

The food is very good here and not too expensive. Lunch for me and the missus plus a drink each came to just under 30.
The beer looks like standard Chef & Brewer choices.

The Turf Tavern, Oxford

Interesting pub with lots of character. The Old Rosie was a treat, albeit potent.

The Dukes Head, Romsey

Called in here for lunch with the missus. The standard food menu is pretty uninspiring but the specials board had some brilliant fish dishes. Combined with the beer this was a slightly expensive but very good lunchtime experience.

The Black Horse Inn, Byworth

I gave this pub a go for lunch and a pint, on the strength of the reviews here. It certainly merits the high marks; excellent food, friendly and efficient bar staff and, most importantly, really good beer.
The only slight niggle is the small car park.

The Isambard, Paddington

Like many others I used to prefer the Mad Bishop and Bear at Paddington, but this actually quite a good place to grab a drink while waiting for your train.
As time was limited I got a JD & Coke which was upgraded to a double for an extra 50p or something. The key to this place is its proximity to the platforms so the last minute sprint to your train isn't as long as it is from The Mad Bishop. Plus there are plenty of places to sit and people watch while you drink.
Better than I expected and definitely better than it looks from the outside.

Que Pasa, Staines

Boring. There are better places close by in Staines, with better beer too.

The Swan Hotel, Staines

As mentioned below, a great place to go for a couple of drinks on a summer's evening. Make sure you have plenty of cash though; this place ain't cheap!
Ate here once ages ago. It was Ok, I seem to remember.

North Star, Staines

Well, it's handy for the train but there still seem to be some unsavoury types lurking, especially when the football's on. Something to bear in mind.

The White Horse, Hedgerley

Fantastic rural pub with some amazing beers to try.
An example of how rural: at the end of my most recent visit I wanted to phone for a taxi home, the barman told me that the only mobile phone signal that would work was O2 and I had to stand in a particular place just across the road! He was right and luckily I'm on O2, though he did offer the use of the landline if I wasn't :-)
I've never tried the food here so I can't comment on it, but the beer is what people go there for anyway and it won't disappoint.

The Mad Bishop and Bear, Paddington

This is a good enough pub to start or end a day out in London. The beer's generally ok though the food can be a bit hit and miss.
There are televisions in the pub but they always seem to be tuned to either Sky News or Sky Sports News; I've never seen them showing any live sport.
The worst thing about this pub would be the toilets; smelly and grotty...
