The Royal Hotel, Portishead

Hi i am the land lady of the Royal, just to let you all know that the number on here is incorrect and will direct you to the Royal Oak. The correct number is 01275 843944. We look forward to you visiting our establishment. And obviously i will be giving my pub a 10 rating!

The Glass House, Nailsea

Rough & Nasty. Avoid!

Wight Mouse Inn, Chale

Not sure what all the negative comments are all about. I went on a day trip to IOW, and found this place randomly driving around the island. agreed it is a chain pub now (hall and woodhouse) but i thought it was marvellously tastefully decorated, the staff were freindly and the beer was good. food was average but you cant win them all :) overall i would pop back if i ever visit the island again.

Dragon Inn, Weston Super Mare

Typical wetherspoons, great beer and cider on supply, but let down by awful food, dirty tables and undesirable customers (swearing teenagers in baseball caps, and smelly old men cluttering up the bar). also far too many fruit machines!

Off The Rails, Weston Super Mare

Unusual place indeed. fantastic selection of beers on show, but the place is crying out for a refurb to perhaps make it into a proper pub as opposed to a room with beer in it. as mentioned in other comments, customers here tend to eye up unfamiliar faces, but i wouldnt say atmosphere was partucularly bad.

The Royal Hotel, Portishead

popped in for a quick pint whilst in portishead (Moles Double Mild - nice) seems to be refurbishment work going on here too, a high quality refit has been done on one half of the pub, and staff inform me that the bar will be refurbished to the same standard during the winter. look forward to seeing it!

The White Lion, Portishead

Hoped that a refurb and new management would have bought this place up a notch, but the same clientele seem to frequent, giving it an edgy uncomfortable atmosphere. not somewhere i would fancy visiting again.

The Windmill Inn, Portishead

Popped in to see new conservatory - its open and full of people but surprisingly the work isnt finished yet - lots of plasterboard and wires, and possibly a bit out of keeping with the rest of the pub - hopefully will be done soon and then i can give a better opinion, looks pretty grand and very nice view. had a good pint of GWB too.

The Drawbridge, Bristol

dull and uninspiring.

The Britannia Inn, Wollaston

Looks tatty and grim inside, but i think thats half of the appeal here. a genuine pub nonetheless, very freindly genuine staff and very reasonably priced (especially for soft drinks for the other half) and a well kept pint of TT Landlord. Certainly one for the boys to visit, but leave the family at home perhaps.

The Bucket and Spade, Weston Super Mare

As previously mentioned, very few staff and those who are there are poorly trained. The place is tacky and unclean, food is awful. Shame as when this pub first opened it was lovely and the staff were great, and a decade later it has sunk to the depths.

The Star Inn, Bath

Wow!
This place is like a reverse tardis, massive on the outside, tiny on the inside! - but what it lacks in size it makes up with atmosphere. freindly bar staff too. had a lovely pint of abbey ale. Keep up the good work.

The Royal Hotel, Portishead

Visited on a busy bank holiday weekend, nice large outside seating area with views over the water. Staff seemed very polite and freindly, and food was excellent and obviously home cooked.
I would be keen to try some of the other dishes as they sound delicious. Sampled a glass of thatchers gold (my favorite) and a well kept pint of Moles Best (a rarity to be seen in this area). very positive experience.

The Ship and Castle, Congresbury

As previously stated, been redecorated to a very high standard ans is now very much a gastropub. whilst the place looks great i found that the staff were very young and inexperienced (not knowing what half of the stuff on the menu was) and pretty sloppy. The food was very expensive (14 for a beef and ale pie!) and whilst tasty and home-cooked, not worth the sort of money charged for it. beer selection was OK, looks like a GK tied house perhaps. Worth a visit for a drink, but doubt i will eat there again due to pricing.

The Fox Den, Stoke Gifford

Very quiet when visited, but service was good, and beer well kept - nice pint of butcombe.

10 Apr 2009 16:12

The Globe Inn, Newton St. Loe

Beautiful pub, Vintage inns run, as with all of there pubs drinks are pricey and food is exciting sounding, but unfortunatley out of packets by the feel of things. Bar staff superb chaps when i visited, and waitresses freindly. The interior is lovely, very big place too. If only they would keep the atmosphere and change the food and cheaper drinks!

The Priory Hotel, Portbury

Typical Vintage Inns Pub, tasteful decor and freindly staff. However always slightly pricey, and whilst food is not bad, its evident that most, if not all, is cooked by microwave chefs. Real shame because otherwise this could be a winner.

Coach House Inn, Locking

Never eaten in here, but as far as drinking goes, the front of house is lovely, a traidional pub setup with long oak bar, stone floors and big comfy sofas infront of a roaring fire. Also has a kiddies play area outside, and good parking.
There is a rear bar, but its only populated by the locals, tend to get a bit of the whole "you're not from these parts" scenario.

10 Apr 2009 15:43

Bud's Bar, Melksham

incredibly out of place "funky fun wine bar" slap bang in the middle of a small wiltshire town. Nicely decorated, but generally full of kids drinking alcopops and awful chart music being blared at you from all angles. avoid avoid avoid.

The Raven, Bath

This place is a right little gem, excellent selection of real ales, and whilst very small inside still has room for two bars (one up one down) - tasteful decor, and freindly cosy atmosphere. Treated myself to a "moo pie" which was very good indeed - apparently a speciality. Definatley recommended!

Porter, Bath

Interesting concept, a vegetarian pub, food was excellent and well priced, and the pub itself its quite quirky and traditional. Only thing that marred the experience was a somewhat disinterested young barmaid. - thankfully was only served by her once, and the other barman was a bit more pleasant.

10 Apr 2009 15:37

The Tram Shed, Bath

For what it is, its not bad at all, but as mentioned before, its not a real pub, more a wine bar. Bit pricey too.

Crab Apple Inn, Clevedon

Shocking. The best thing that could happen to this pub is a bulldozer.

9 Apr 2009 21:33

The Imperial, Weston Super Mare

Lovely decor considering the state it got into a few years back. looks like new ownership, freindly staff on show, and lost of events here from tango dancing to rock bands. one for the weekends i think.

9 Apr 2009 21:32

The Parish Pump, Weston Super Mare

Shabby.

9 Apr 2009 21:30

The Queens Arms, Bleadon

Surprised to see this pub now owned by butcombe. Lovely beer, nice atmosphere, freindly staff. what more could you want?

9 Apr 2009 21:29

Nicks, Weston Super Mare

Lovely to sit out on the terrace on a nice hot summers day. Good kareoke too on evenings :)

9 Apr 2009 21:28

The London Inn, Weston Super Mare

Had a huge refit a year or so ago with new ownership and is now split (oddly) into two bars, the london inn and london oak. The "inn" part is a trendy wine bar, and the oak part is a cosy snug bar. Prices for food are OK, have an extensive choice of sausages!, Only bath gem on tap though but made up for by presence of thatchers gold. hurrah.

9 Apr 2009 21:28

Foxy's, Weston Super Mare

Closed down a long time ago. now known as the bottle bar.
