Raffertys/Quins, Newcastle

Not as bad as you might thimnk, but the decor is like a cheap pizza place, and the beer isn't good, but has a nice atmosphere mostly!

Revolution, Newcastle

Good at 5.00pm for a swift cockltail after work, but I wouldn't stay any longer. They do very nice food on a Sunday, with newspapers etc, We were in last weekend, and there was us and 4 others. Beautiful ceiling and columns.

The Pig and Whistle, Newcastle

It has to be the most vile pub in the universe. Nothing to say, exept avoid.

The Bacchus, Newcastle

It used to be a good bar, but since it was rebuilt from scratch a few years back, it has lost it's soul.

The Newcastle Arms, Newcastle

Traditional style pub, but not a chav in sight. New beers every day, and they get to know your face pretty quick. The staff are great, and the beer good. They let you try before you buy too!

Sam Jacks, Newcastle

Nasty. Plain and sinple. They have a dentists chair aid pouring stuff down birthday boys necks.
Nuff said.

The Goose at the Gardens, Newcastle

It started well as the first review says, but since then it's been on a downward spiral. Even the cheap beer is no enticement. Vile toilets.

The Percy Arms, Newcastle

It used to be the place to see loads of bikes pared outside on a satufrday night (I was one of them) and there were tales of the manager parking his bike in the bar, but the biker bar seems to have died a bit, and the clientelle have mostly drifted on. Shame.

The Three Bulls Heads, Newcastle

Dreadful. Used to be good when it was the original building, but it's souless now.

The Hotspur, Newcastle

I worked here in the '801's when the little fella was the manager. Forget his name. It hasn't changed much, but the back room has gone. Beer is better maybe.

Trillians Rock Bar, Newcastle

I have been going here since it was the Jubilee back in the mid '80's and I have to say it has definately lost it's gloss. The DJ music is deafening (not my age!) and the beer could be better. It has been a very good venue for up and coming groups as well as some of the old bands on a reunion tour. Sometime you pay sometimes you don't. It lost a bit of it's clientelle when Legends nightclub opened round the corner, and stayed open til 3 where ar Trillz stays open til only 1am on Thurs, Friday and Saturday. The quiz is taken very seriously on a Sunday, so don't go in and play up, or you'll be out on your ear. Can be a very funny night! Questions not rock related, and can be very hard!

Cafe Vaudeville, Belfast

It looks quite intimidating in an overly posh way from the outside, but when you brave the red carpetted steps and glass entrance, the door is opened for you by the "doorman" and the mondrous interior takes your breath away. Another converted Bank, yes, but what a fantastic interior! Huge chandeliers and mixed lighting, little nooks and crannies with chaise longues and intimate tables. The food is excellent, the beer average, but a must to see. I have been 3 times now, eaten daytime and evening, and stayed until late to watch a local band. It's Boudoir/Moulin Rouge and would do well to have a burlesque night!
