The Pump and Truncheon, Blackpool

Quite a haven for real ale drinkers who don't like Wetherspoons (Which is all of them.) It's my pub of choice in Blackpool and a great little back street pub with friendly staff and a charming atmosphere. Usually sees Cross Bay beers which is brilliant. Although I've never seen it really busy at all, there is usually chatty locals in there and real ale drinkers.

Worth a visit, if I was going to mention any pub in central Blackpool to go for, this would be my #1.

The Ramsden Arms, Blackpool

I imagine at some point this pub was a lot better, but it's not exactly bad now.

The atmosphere is beautiful - surrounded by old artifacts and great old architecture, which is strange with the huge modern new supermarket being build next door (They can't knock it down luckily it's listed). Very friendly staff, and two ales on which weren't too interesting in choice (Wadworth 6X, Ruddles County). Slightly busy on a week night and popular with locals.

All in all, not awful but not amazing either.

The highlight is the real ale, which is loosely sadly dedicated to Greene King. You get the occasional good guest , although last time there was only two wheat beers and Greene King IPA, nothing else.

As people have said, it's a chain-style pub and usually relatively busy, TV screens are everywhere and the bar staff aren't always the friendliest bunch, but alright by Blackpool's standards. It's worth a drink if you're a local looking for ale, but
