The Rose and Thistle, Camberwell

Ok - standard pub, nothing special. good for drinks

The Tiger, Denmark Hill

Now with outside tables - cafe society comes to the Buckle!

The Fine Line, Clapham

Not as bad as some previous reviewers say but nothing special. Like much of Clapham - bland, expensive and part of a chain.

The Stonhouse, Clapham

In contrast to reviews below I went there today (Sunday afternoon) and had to shout loudly to communicate with my friends. Lots of smug 'rah' Clapham types (especially families) which is nice if you like that kind of thing Nothing special drink-wise. Why come here when there are so many other better pubs?

The Fentiman Arms, Kennington

Agree with previous post - manager is worst thing about this pub; she is never less than abrupt and usually downright rude. Why people continue coming here is beyond me.

The Sun and Doves, Camberwell

Thats not to say its not good in winter; in fact you might say good all year round

The Railway, Blackheath

Heaving on a Sunday lunchtime, couldnt get a seat but number of people eating sunday lunch is testament to the quality of the food

The Sun and Doves, Camberwell

Fantastic - best in the summer when you can sit out in the large rear terrace area

Dark Horse, Camberwell

Agree with previous review - is good for sophisticated drink and also food. Always plenty of room and table service, very good. Prices are not the cheapest but no more expensive overall than Castle, F Munky etc.

Red Star Bar, Camberwell

Seems to be only open on odd nights when they have an outside promoter in

The Walkabout, Angel, Islington

Dire dire dire

The Offside Bar, Islington

Not bad - standard range of beers. Two large screens and several small screens to watch the footer.

Millstream, Hitchin

Hopelessly understaffed on a recent Sunday lunchtime visit - even though the pub was only half full I and four or five other people still had to wait ages to get served at the bar.

And rather strangely we were told that groups of over four people who wanted to eat had to book even though there were plenty of empty tables and a full menu available - we (a group of 10)got around this by giving three separate orders which seemed to be ok.?

Food (sunday roast) was good if a little expensive, atmosphere standard large pub quiet so good for talking

Auberge, Waterloo

Thoroughly pleasant bar in which to while away and hour or two or four in Waterloo. Excellent selection of beers and good wines. Good bar snacks too and very nice restaurant upstairs. Standard central London pub prices but not a rip off for the great atmosphere. Tends not to get as crowded as the Firestation or other pubs in teh area.

The Roebuck, Kennington

Absolutely heaving after the recent Ashes at the Oval - certainly a contrast to all the other times when Ive been in and there have been a maximum of ten people quietly sipping their pints.

The pub more than rose to the challenge though with loads more bar staff and VB beer for our Antipodean friends.

Thoroughly recommend this pub - it spacious, not pretentious, has a great outdoors area and is very welcoming

The Crystal Palace Tavern, Bath

V good for Sunday lunches - huge portions, lots of vegetables

12 Sep 2005 14:04

The Jolly Miller, Calne

Good local - everything you would want in such an establishment!

The White Hart Hotel / O'Dwyer's Bar, Calne

Good restaurant/ hotel/ pub with late night bar with live music on Friday nights. One of the better places to go to in Calne

The White Horse Inn, Compton Bassett

Good historic local, excellent range of food and dining facilities and traditiopnal front bar. Also does accommodation

Sheffield Waterworks Company, Sheffield

On a recent visit I found it not as bad as other users have found - good range of (standard) pub meals and very good range of beers including the mighty VB. Lots of children though

The Grey Derby, Kennington

I love the Hound

The Barking Dog, Barking

Horrible, horrible, horrible!
Went there as we had two hours to kill in Barking on a Sat afternoon; huge pub but at 4pm full up already with usual Wetherspoons customers ie drunk old men and the like attracted by exteremly cheap beer. Paused for a pint and then left swiftly - Spotted Dog next door much better; spacious, airy and good beer.

The Royal Albert, South Lambeth

Service receives seems to be a bit variable - depends very much on which member of the bar staff takes your order as to how quickly you get served drinks.
Food can take a long time too - again seems to depend on who takes your order
