The Rose and Crown, St Albans

Took family in for a swift pint and some food. A change in manager.. upbeat and very friendly.. Garden has been seriously worked on.. Had some great pints of Mad Goose and Doombar with my Bro-in-law and the wives and kids were all catered for superbly. The food was excellent albeit a tad on the expensive side. But this still is a great pub. More friendly and accessible for families than it's neighbours. A proper pub!
Will be popping back next Friday to catch the live music!

The Rose and Crown, St Albans

A great pub. pretty busy for a sunday and a good crowd of welcoming regualrs. The barman was funny and kept the atmosphere alive and he served some good quality beer. Award winning mad Goose was a winner for us and was copiously drunk. ( the beer that is) Shame they only do food till 5pm on a sunday but that was still later than anywhere else in the area. Apparently it's 9pm the rest of the week. We did get some bowls of chips though. Prices seemed good for food but beer on the heavy side. Typical of punch taverns. A nice garden, sheltered from the rain but fix the smokers heater!
Old pub with old original decor, good location. We'll be back. Thanks

Mokoko, St Albans

Afraid i didn't enjoy this. A cocktail bar which means a lack of beer and spending ages waiting for a drink whilst they mix some colourful concoction for half a dozen screeching maidens. A place for the pretentious and nouvo riche. Not a pub I think I'll visit again soon. sorry.

The Boot, St Albans

A real pub in the town centre. Great location. Good beer and very busy. watch out for low ceiling though! A welcome place after the pseudo wine bar refurb places that are spreading. Not sure if they do food but the beer and atmosphere were great! No garden so you're smoking in the street.

The Beehive, St Albans

Feels like a real pub that could be in a chain. Thought food was pricey but beer ok. Lots of tv screens so if you want to watch sports its a good place to go. Never been in evening so can't comment about then.

Bar 62, St Albans

I liked this place. On a busy street where you can't park but to walk to is worth it. Nice decor and good food and beer. Mixed clientelle of younger and middle aged. Get busy in the evineings at weekends. A good pub.

The Six Bells, St Albans

A lovely pub in a very scenic tourist area. dropped in after seeing local sights. Beer seemed good and food seemed popular. It was busy we were attended to by good staff. surprised though they put up with a lot of bad language being given off by drinkers who were of an age to know better. Not sure if i would bring my family here. With friends - not a problem
