The Chichester Arms, Mortehoe

Went for dinner and a few pints recently. Exmoor Ales were well kept and steak was cooked nicely (abate a little 1980s in style). Would definitely go back!

The Volunteer Riflemans Arms, Bath

Went with a mate from London recently .. beer was kept ok, food was average but not expensive for city centre location. Would go back if the Raven burnt down.

The Marlborough Tavern, Bath

Went along knowing what to expect. This was a gastro-pub .. so we were went for food, rather than for a few quiet beers. But the food was a let-down considering the price (and the awards they have supposedly won). Won't be going back. Try the Hop Pole instead!

The Hop Pole, Bath

This used to be my local .. great good but (as stated below) not much beer variety being a Bath Ales pub, although they always tasted good.

The Bell, Bath

Very unfortunate that the wife works nearby and I often have 30mins to kill before she finises work .. top pub, great beer! One of Bath's best..

George Inn, Bathampton

Comments below are spot on - beer = average, service = poor, food = dire. Have been past for a beer once before and shouldn't have come back to try the food - it's a plastic pub dressed up in a beautiful building and great location ... buyer beware!

The Packhorse Inn, Southstoke

My closest decent pub, friendly locals, one of my favourite ales on tap (Doombar), very good food and the beer garden looks like it will be cracking come summer!

The Monkey Puzzle, Paddington

Sitting in the beer garden right now on a brilliant Monday evening with the sun beating down. Was at the Fountain, but the 3 minute stroll was paid back hansomely by the Badger on tap. I live in Bath and survive on Badger, so finding this pub is a delight for my frequent London trips.

The Cat's Back, Wandsworth

Started coming here in 2005 when I moved to Putney, have since shifted towards Barnes but still return for the Cat's charm now and again. Two friends hooked-up here four years ago and are getting married next year. Great place to hatch grand schemes over a pint or two.

The Spotted Horse, Putney

Used to come here when I first moved to Putney 5 years ago to watch sport. Was a bit of a dump then but the staff were great and the beer was cheap.

Much improved decor now and the clientel has changed, but over-expensive.

The Arab Boy, Putney

My local .. and not a bad little pub.

Good allrounder without being spectacular.

Staff are fine, clientel are inoffensive, beer selection ok, and as a previous poster stated: has a unobtrusive flatscreen that shows all the sport but is just far enough away from Putney High Street to avoid the chavs that populate The Fox.

The best feature is actually the food. Fairly basic such as fish and chips, etc.. but absolute quality and well priced. I would highly recommend the lamb burger, the best I've had.

Everything you want in a local, but not so good that it attracts the hordes.

The Captain Cook, Putney

Dire ..

Now called the West Putney Tavern, for some reason it has been repainted 3 times in the last 12 months first gray, then yellow, now .. some other colour that escapes me.

No atmosphere, food is overpriced (particularly when you consider that the Arab Boy is 300 yards away and has superb food).

Toilets are disgusting.

This place should be good and as the closest pub to my home I'm disappointed its not.

Will no doubt be closed soon.
