The Rainbow Inn, Cooksbridge

Food bland and over priced, the guy behind the bar was "The Big I AM" with his leg up on the shelf behind the bar. I wanted to take my wife out for a nice meal and had been past many times. What a mistake!! the food was so overpriced, believe me i dont mind paying for good quality food however the place was so up its own backside and the food was so bland. You are frowned apon if you just come in for a drink and since talking to some of my friends, they have been suprised that we had even been there, as they have all found it awful for a long time. Is it a pub or a restaurant??? no one knows and i feel "The Rainbow" dont do either one very well.

The Plough, Plumpton Green

Food really bad, service was unbelievably awful, get your staff in smarter clothes ( if my children went out wearing the rubbish your staff were allowed to wear, i would have something to say about it!!) when you go out to eat you at least want a standard of service and food (also a bit of nice decor would not go amiss!!) the food was really one of the most tasteless and badly presented by a waitress/owner who really did not give a s***!!!
Harveys pub, i think that they should make sure their Harveys tastes good, because it was off!!! Never ever go back!!

The Dolphin, Haywards Heath

we moved to the area last year, staff not very well trained, and i would say about these chain pubs is that a lot of money is thrown at them by the chain owners but the chefs are really probably underpaid as the food is horrible, the waiting staff really dont give a damn (apart from a very small percentage) these are the type of staff they need to really keep and try and get, rather than just employing who ever applies for the job.

The Bull Inn, Newick

Are there 2 Bull pubs in Newick!!! (looking at the prevous coment, i think simon may have written that one or there is another pub called The Bull in Newick!!) whenever we go there, the land lord talks about himself constantly and has little idea about running a pub, the food is really not good at all (we have heard that he was a chef (ha ha) and considering he was a chef he should be more fussy about the way the food is presented or tastes!!!) and my friends and i have been there quite a lot in the last year, we have now given up hope and are changing our venue, sorry but the place is a disaster.

The Sloop Inn, Scaynes Hill

Visited twice in the last couple of months, the first time was a month after the new owners had taken over, we looked at the menu (there were 2 starters, five main courses and three desserts!!) the choice was really not great so we thought we would leave it until they had got their feet, oh dear, what are they doing, we have just returned it, the place is terrible, the menu is just as small, the staff are not brilliant and quite frankly the chef should be replaced. I dont want to sit and eat my bland food listening to the music being played in the kitchen. It is no wonder the place is so quite.

The Sportsman, Goddard Green

We ate here last week, very very disappointed. We had lunch, food was very average, the plough-persons (as they call it) was absolutely terrible, who serves it with toasted bread, my advice is dont play with a ploughmans unless you can get it spot on!!! The chef was constantly out wandering around, i am sorry but chefs should be in the kitchen, we dont want to see a chef in dirty Whites and looking very untidy, serving food or hanging around out front (even if he is one of the owners, he should know better!!)

The Five Bells, Chailey

Where are Phil and Julie !!!!!! We went to The Five Bells last week only to find it had been sold onto new owners, we always give people a chance, but my godness what a shambles, they had apparently been there a month and quite frankly not one of them had a clue!!! The food was really awful, tasteless and cheaply produced (who puts a rabbit burger on!!!!!!) and the service was like a Little Chef, we are residents of the area and since visiting we have heard not great reports from friends. we would suggest new chefs and new waiting staff. Customers vote with their feet as we have ............very very disappointed.
