They have the best vegatarian sausage and mash I have ever tasted and I have tasted a few. Real ale that has taken me to the dark side and left me there, and a bit out side if you like having complete strangers walk past you and hear your drunken chatter.
The separate 'restaurant' bit makes me laugh. Why? Besides that all good.

The Old Queens Head, Islington
Been here a few times for the music they have upstairs.
Not I hasten to add for the people, who can be too cool for school.
Did finally get to hear Andrew Weatherhall DJ.
Though I had to have him pointed out to me.

The Crown And Two Chairmen, Soho
Have been in here now and then,on my own and with company, for food, coffee, drink.
Have yet to have bad food, bad coffee, or bad drink.
Today I had a falafel burger and a pint of Timothy Taylors. Both fine.
To other reviewers and possible customers
1.Falafel burgers do not a gastro pub make.
2.Bricks and mortar don't have character you and your friends do, so if you think this pub has none...
3.A beer range is not limited just because you can't find what you like, and you can't drink yourself round the world. If you want to do this go down Sainsburys/Waitrose and pick up a few bottles.

Been here twice three times for the comedy nights.
Saw Simon Munnery the last time. Which was brilliant.
For those who are not knowledgeable of British comedies more out-there comic greats this is the equivalent of going for a quiet night out on a Thursday, going down your local and finding that you have been magically transported to a magically magic place and Richard Pryor, Eddie Izzard and Bill Hicks are doing a gig upstairs and it only costs a fiver to get in.
Also saw an Irish woman bare her bum on stage.
P.s as for its "Pubness" it does its job.

Went in this Saturday for food and a drink.
My friend and I had coffees that were scalding hot,and tasted burnt, our food took over 20 minutes to arrive and it arrived cold and under cooked.
We got a refund and left.
No apology or explanation was given.

The Hope and Anchor, Islington
Have been into this pub twice in the 7 years I have lived in Islington. On both occasions there was a bag snatch. The second time was last night and it happened to my friend. You have been warned

A bit of a dive!? Christ what do you want gold plated bar stools?? This is a fine pub. Yeah the toilets were flooded when I went but that happens in pubs, because unlike at home it isn't just a handful of people using them. Had a drink and some wedges and stuffed a skeleton in a vase of carnations. The special bitter was very tasty and I like the way its just off a roundabout. Never seen any comedy there but they seem to attract some decent talent and on the night I was in I had to direct a comedian I recognised off the tv to the a aforementioned toilets. I couldn't recall his name and I didn't see him again. Maybe the state of the toilets put him off. Pussy!
