Going through planning permission now - the new owner want sto re-open as cafe - restaurant bar not pub.

The service was unbelievably slow in this slightly pretentious pub - though the landlady knew she would be busy, there seemed to be only one waitress - who was sweet but untrained and not familiar with the menu. She couldn't cope, nor could the kitchen. It all took forever and mostly wasn't worth waiting for: the steak and ale pie was good but the risotto gloopy and the grilled plaice pappy. Rhubarb and ginger crumble OK. Overpriced for the standard though and dreadfully organised

The Rocket, Acton
Charming staff, good ambience, really good food and an upstairs room that hosts the local book club, two film clubs, stand up and sometimes gigs.
Selection of wines including prosecco as well as well-kept beers.
Even a kids menu
