The Masons Arms, Battersea

This pub is on the expensive side, granted, but it's worth it to hear the hilariously cheesey chat-up lines of the little bar man. So naff, it was impossible not be amused.

All Bar One, Leicester Square

Number One: It's in the middle of tourist overpriced hell
Number Two: It's All Bar One
Total yuck. Why anyone would chose to go to a place like this more than once is beyond me. The only reason I went was cos I had arranged to meet a group of friends before going on elsewhere, and it was big enough to accommodate us outside. But really, what is the point of these places? I don't know a single person who thinks they are any good.

The Alexandra, Clapham

Like the Alex in summer where you can sit upstairs with the windows wide open and watch the world go by. For some reason though, I always seem to get incredibly pissed there, which I know is the point of the pub, but as a hard-core seasonsed drinker I find it quite disturbing that I get as drunk as I do. Highly recommended though there are lots of little flies downstairs - has anyone else noticed this?

The Bell House, Camden

Stumbled upon this pub by accident after go for a looong walk along the canal and trying to find a pub that wasn't jam packed full. Absolutely lovely pub garden. Right by the canal, and so very unpretentious. Loved it. Very nice lady spoke to me at the bar when I was ordering my pints and everyone seemed very friendly. Bar lady (Landlady?) lent us her pen so we could do the crosswords and then felt very sorry for us when we couldn't go the final clue (it ended up being 'Waterloo'). If I'm ever in this area, I will definitely spend a sunny afternoon there again.

The Two Brewers, Clapham

I've had some great nights in the Two Brewers, but the one thing that really annoys me is that sometimes they have a 'no gay' policy on the door. I am not gay but many of my friends are. What would happen if I went into a 'straight' club with one of my gay friends and they wouldn't be allowed in because they are gay? Why can't I go and hang out with my gay friends in a gay club once in a while? Bouncers - calm down - be a bit more friendly and stop being so bloody snooty!

The Fly, Bloomsbury

My boyfriend had his 40th there (I can't believe I have a 40 year old boyfriend...). Anyway, the staff were absolutely magnificent. I cannot praise them highly enough. Consequently we had a fantastic party as we had hired out downstairs (very reasonable rates as well - free if you spend a certain amount over the bar - I think it was 1,000). I probably wouldn't go there for a drink as it's very quiet but will definitely hire again as a venue for a party.

The Salusbury, Kilburn

My local to work. I find it has good nights and bad nights. The majority of the bar staff are pretty friendly, but I think that's cos they know me now. I have had some fabulous nights here (try out the dining section - amazing food) and some really awful nights. A bit too trendy for its own good at times and slightly incestuous in there. I also think it's very expensive, but they do serve Star which is one of my favs. Just wish there weren't so many media/fashion types being up-there-own-arsey.

All Bar One, Cannon Street

Cannot stand All Bar One's at the best of times. Trouble is in the City, a lot of pubs close at 9.00, so you're stuck with going here. Not one iota of atsmophere. Not a dot. Dull, boring, bland, predictable. Yawn...

The Duke of Edinburgh, Brixton

Was terribly busy when I went the other friday night. Lots of officey types - not too sure where they all came from cos the pub is not obviously near any offices. In the summer though it's very nice to sit in the garden, and they do an okay bbq as well. Music can be a bit loud inside sometimes, and bit of a weird lay-out in the bar. Lacking in atmosphere.

The Wheatsheaf, Vauxhall

My new favourite local. I love this place. It has booths (hooray!), pool table and plenty of room. I have only been here twice now, but on my first night the lovely barman put cocktail umbrellas in my pint for me. Bless 'im. I will definitely check out the pub quiz - though I always seem to be busy on Thurs. nights. A 'proper' boozer.

The Latchmere, Battersea

I have been going to this pub for three years and have never been acknowledged as being a local by the bar staff. I generally go to watch the football on the big screen. It's a nice enough pub, but quite unfriendly. Upon saying that, I had one evening where four very very scary drunk Chelsea fans decided that my boyfriend and I were their new best friends. One of them (the fattest one) trousers fell down. I kid you not. However these people are not atypical of the usual locals. Slightly snooty, slightly lacking in atmosphere, but probably the best choice in the local area.

The Chandos, Trafalgar Square

The Chandos is brilliantly central for meeting my N/S/E/W friends, plus there's no excuse for saying 'I can't come out - I've got no money' because it doesn't get much cheaper than this. Upon saying that, don't feel like you are drinking in some slime-hole as a consequence. I always go upstairs and there is a pretty friendly crowd there. Lots of tourists pre-theatre and quite a few office types so can get a bit busy on Friday nights. Very friendly/efficient bar staff.

The Gladstone, Vauxhall

A good solid basic pub. Right on my doorstep, so very handy. Lovely bar staff - very friendly and proper Saaarrfff Londoners. Tina is great and you learn a lot about local history here.
