The Lescar Hotel / Hunters Bar, Sheffield

Beer is expensive and the lighting is really low to the point of being difficult to see where you are walking. The doormen don't keep out all the undesirables, they let in their mates who spend more time in the toilets than at the bar. The barstaff are completely ignorant/indifferent to beer/drinkers.

The Lescar Hotel / Hunters Bar, Sheffield

This pub has recently been refurbished by Mitchell and Butler and the landlord and staff are completely new. More emphasis on food and all the TV screens have been removed. eer garden has been titivated and there is now an outside seating area at the front. Doormen prevent any of the more undesirable old elements from getting in. Presently the vote is stiill out on whether this is an imporvement but the high prices have not gone down well with the old regulars. I'd welcomme other people's viewsd on the 'new' Lescar.

The Sutton Arms, Barbican

Will be at a wedding reception at the Sutton Arms late June so the reviews were helpful. Any suggestions for other pubs in the immediate area for when the karaoke gets too much ! Not looking for bars or pubs that think they are clubs !

Red Lion, Sheffield

I agree with Layne, there is not much atmosphere but most people seem to go in large groups, or meet people there, and create their own atmsophere. All the other comments I'd re-iterate. Was in last Friday, packed with lots of works colleagues, and with the range of hand pulled beers had a great night.
