Am I the only person who thinks the Alex has gone downwhill recently ?? Always felt safe here but recently I've noticed far too many smelly tramps plodding about and inside begging for spare change..Not sure if the new owner is turning a blind eye but Clapham in general feels likes its letting itself go recently...Am I the only one ?

As I'm moving to the area in Sept I decided to pay a visit Sunday August 23rd. Really really nice pub. Super "beer garden" more or less on the lake itself. Good food ( service a bit slow and a little pricey ) but I guess you get what you pay for.
I disagree with the earlier comment about it not being ideal for a proper session. I thought the inside was very cosy with exposed beams and lots of little dark corners to while away a few hours over some scoops..I'll deffo be back soon

Had a cracking night there last night...A few lovely pints of Addlestones and a serious Burger...In heaven.
Staff were really nice too..Has a very "bohemian" feel to it which was refreshing for the area.
Toilets obviously brand spanking new ( smell of fresh paint gave it away )
Nice place...I'll be back

You show your prejodice and ignorance by making fleeting statemtents about something you have absolutley no idea about...You heard what you want to hear but in reality most Irish people and decent minded peoople just feel sorry for you ! this is a great pub which runs with its loyal regulars in mind and serves a cracking pint...

A lovely lovely pub !
Friendly staff, nice glowing "gas" fire this time of year, and tables outside for those who fancy. This is really tucked away aswell... Dont miss it

What an absolute GEM of a place !
Homely atmosphere, great pints, respectable but noisy crowd.
As a previous poster said "stay away" or the secret will get out !
