The Duke of Hamilton, Hampstead

traditional old backstreet boozer occupied by fogies young and old. not a connoisseur myself but was assured by those with me that they served 'a decent pint'. only complaint was the group of illicit smokers hanging round the back leering through the windows of the ladies loo! decided to hold it in til the next stop!

Ye Olde White Bear, Hampstead

this is a great pub with a welcome feel and friendly staff. have popped in on and off for years and it feels like it's happily stuck in a time-warp. it aint broke so they're not fixing it.

The Flask, Hampstead

was a bit wary on hearing about the refurb of this local institution but it's actually not bad. to be honest it's bohemian heyday had long since passed anyway and it had become faintly depressing. the food's definitely upped it's quality from the motorway service-station slop they used to serve up. will be back for more.

The Holly Bush, Hampstead

I know this gets labelled a gastro-pub but to me it's still more pub than gastro- there's just good grub if you want it.
charming location and really nice atmosphere but probably a victim of it's own popularity...a bit overrun when we were there last. still reckon it's the best pub in hampstead though!
