The Nevill Crest and Gun, Eridge Green

As the leader here says, Beer has very little knowledge of this establishment, nor should it based upon the previous owners Whitbread. They seemed to think that they could occupy this wonderful building and run a Brewers Faye enterprise of the lowest calibre and get away with it. The building was virtually derelict, as were standards and any semblance of staff training.

Now, 2011 the owners are Brunning and Price, a seriously class act. The main building has been totally restored refurbished and extended and is a glory to behold.

Whilst I accept that it is early days, my only comment is that it must not forget that it is a pub, and that it has locals, and whilst it will always be a food destination venue, please be a little more welcoming to those that just want to drink.

Drinkers become diners too. At the moment every table is reserved which is fine if there is a bar area as such, but having fully integrated the bar area into what is obviously the dining area one feels uncomfortable at the tiny bar servery. We were six, our rounds were coming to 15 plus, and we had to plead to be allowed a table to sit at. We stayed for two, we would have stayed for more, but each time we put down an empty glass it was whisked away with a have you finished with this

This is a great house, the food looks great with a varied very comprehensive daily menu, staff a bit formal but this is very early days. Well done Brunning and Price, this will be a jewel.

Sankey's, Tunbridge Wells

Funny old world, here we have an establishment that is constantly reinventing itself to please the punters, but the punters aint happy.

I have always regarded Sankeys as the premier lunch venue, agree with earlier comments, would not risk an evening due to the beer heads.

Lunch however is an absolute must.

The Beacon Hotel, Langton Green

Worst over rated food in Kent. Tragic efforts post smoking ban, they even say where you can smoke out doors. Smokers area, two tables out of about 40, guess where, next to the swill and rubbish bins.

thank you, will never ever return again

The Carpenters Arms, Mayfield

Great little pub, run with real old fashioned values. Food simple, but very tasty, and very keenly priced.

A must

The Bull, Tunbridge Wells

I must have been drinking in a different PUB. The previous operator, now thankfully gone, took a very friendly little town pub offering great food, and turned it into a half hearted average food operation RESTAURANT in a PUB. If you want to run a restaurant buy one dont ruin a good pub. Now the new operator has followed much the same, although the food now is below average, still thinks it is a restaurant. Went in recently for a beer and a sandwich, to be told we dont do sandwiches. 15 minutes latter platters of the damn things were laid out for a wake. Please if you cannot make good homemade chips, buy from those that can. Nice staff

Beau Nash, Tunbridge Wells

Great old fashioned honest pub, knows what it is, great beer garden, really thought out how to accommodate us unclean smokers, thank you.
