Red Lyon, Hurley

Six of us had an excellent roundtable lunch at the Royal Lyon. Friendly, attentive service with a nice warm (if occasionally smokey) fire in the background. Good choice of ales and several excellent, well presented main courses at a midweek price of 8.95. Puddings a bit dear at around 5 but again high quality, eg crunchy apple crumble with a personal jug of custard, sticky toffee pudding with ice cream etc. Easy parking and handy for Henley/Marlow visits. We shall return to this well run and welcoming pub.

The Swan Inn, Inkpen

A nice country pub pleasantly off the beaten track. Friendly service and a good choice of local ales. Food was satisfactory but expensive - ie main courses almost all nearly 12/13, puddings 5 approx. Would not rush to pay a return visit.

The Globe Inn, Somerton

Called in on Sunday lunchtime - quick service of an excellent roast lamb lunch with fresh vegeatables at a very reasonable price. Nice pint of Old Speckled Hen. A good pub to visit if you're in or around Somerton.
