Recently reopened following a 5 week re-ferb, not a great deal changed inside.
Improvements include 3 new Samsung screens for the football, new pool table, additional outside seating/smoking area, fireplace, and now seves a standard Mitchell's menu!

Large traditional pub with two pool tables (one in front and one in back room), free Boddingtons table football, live music at weekends, large screen TV showing most Sky/PPV matches, and a bowling green to the rear with outdoor seating by the side.
Fills with locals and the odd group of students nursing half a Heiniken through the week.
The Jennimgs Cumberland and Heiniken are always well kept, and the staff are above average (little fussy when mistakenly given foreign coins - repeatedly!)
What more can i say.. MEET YOU IN THE BOWERHAM AT THREE!

i visited this pub with my father as it was the only Wetherspoons in the district he was not barred from!
The food was average but the selection of real ales was quite impressive and well kept. The interior is interesting with a seletion of past and present pictures including the old pier and memorabilia of the great man - Eric Bartholomew! The locals add real character, some of which proudly claim to drink there every day of the week - Paul Jackson!

The Canton Arms, South Lambeth
Having moved to Stockwell 2 years ago the Canton was a very handy local - its been on the slide ever since i moved here!!
The choice and quality of the food and beer has dropped, as has the interior.. the clientele coincide with this slide
Well worth walking the extra 5mins round the corner to the Prince

USED TO LIVE HERE AND REVISETED OUT OF INTEREST LAST WEEK.
A VERY AVERAGE PUB WITH NO SOUL OR CHACTER. ACTUALLY STILL RETAINS A COLD FEEL WHEN THEY HAVE A LARGE SPORTS EVENT ON TV.
WOULDN'T AGREE WITH BELOW COMMENT THAT "IT IS PRETENTIOUS" - THREE DRUNKS SPRAWLED ACRROSS THE BAR ON LAST VISIT , AND A HEALTHY AMOUNT OF SWEARING AFTER THE CRICKET HAD FINISHED!
