Central Commercial Hotel, Liverpool

Re Discusted's comments. Isn't such a practice a breech of the hygene regulations? Shouldn't the council be looking into this?

Central Commercial Hotel, Liverpool

Glad to hear that this is not quite as before, however....... As I don't like football and am allergic to karoake it still won't be getting my custom.

The Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool

The manager takes some beating and the staff are always keen and attentive but there is always something Weatherspoonish about this pub. I don't know if its the layout, the fact that it gets very noisy or the fact that you need to take a packed lunch with you when you set off to the toilets.
All in all, there are plusses as well as minuses. Worth a visit though.

Central Commercial Hotel, Liverpool

Spent all my life (56 years to date) in Liverpool and never felt any desire to enter this pub. Does that say it all?

Globe, Liverpool

A good pub? Yes. The best in Liverpool? Probably not. Best avoided at busy times as it can become decidedly uncomfortable but generally speaking the other reviewers have it right. Worth a visit but for me its just that - a pub to visit as part of a crawl.

The Grapes, Wandsworth

By far my favourite pub in Wandsworth. Although at most I may visit no more than 3 times a year on my infrequent trips to London, the management, staff and many of the customers always seem to remember and welcome me. Its that sort of pub. The Youngs ordinary is excellent. TV wise rugby and cricket take precedence over other sports but most of the time its not even on. No loud music - need I go on. Its a must visit pub for those who like it as things were before marketing departments got started.

The Caledonia, Liverpool

This pub has improved beyond measure since the change of management c 18 months ago. The beer choices are normally unusual ones for Liverpool and the staff will look familiar to anyone who is a regular "town drinker" as they have all worked in some of the most popular hostelries around. Although the place can be very quiet at times it pays to get there early on the regular music nights, as the pub gets VERY full. Live music has been such a success at the Cali that the local CAMRA Branch gave an award for it at its most recent "Oscars Night".

The Philharmonic, Liverpool

Sorry, but as a piece of architecture / interior design - excellent; as a pub - overated.

Pogue Mahones, Liverpool

I'm not by nature a Guinness drinker, but even I think this is the best pint I've had outside Ireland. If you are into GAA sports this is the pub - the atmosphere for an All Ireland Final is amazing.

The Dispensary, Liverpool

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the people who have negative things to say about Dave appear to be either first time or very irregular visitors. Those of us who use the pub on a regular basis know just how hard Dave works and how much pressure that puts him under. Even the most saintly amongst us would have our moments. I never have a problem with him and most of the time if he's run off his feet he'll say "hang on a minute, I'll come back to you" or its like. This is by far my favourite pub in Liverpool - beer, staff, craic - its got the lot.
