Such a Shame was very excited by the opening of The Bloated Mallard, but had very dissapointing meal (all 3 of our meals were pretty bad).

I had already heard someone complain how bad her and her childrens food was, and since friends have said they would never go back in there as their food was also bad.

They could do so much with it as well, as they have a big garden and there isn't any pubs that have kitted their garden out with childrens equipment in this area. (like the Crown in Twickenham - great food and great pub for children).

Lets hope there is an improvement.

Great place to go with the kids if weather good due to the pub garden having a good play area.
Excellent roast dinner - veggie roast by far the best I've had anywhere.
Bit stingey on some of the kids meals - considering not cheap.
Have found food always to be good here.

Joes Bar and Restaurant, Hampton Hill

It may have changed its name - but is this owned by the same people? as nothing has really changed here - the staff are not very accommodating. Can't comment too much on the food as only been back in recently for lunch which was ok. But bad service puts me off going back. (I seem to try this place every 6 months or so but never seems to be any improvement).
Also if you ask to have ketchup/mayo left on your table for when you need the answer is a flat NO!! what's that about.

Do not bother with the roast here - chicken was chicken fillets, the roast potatoes were new potatoes (roasted) and my friends that had the beef, other meat were not impressed with theirs either. Although we were offered a free coffee to make up for it.

I am not surprised this place is closing down and wouldn't miss it either!
Why they say they are child friendly is beyond me - I asked if it was ok to come in New Years Eve for food with friends and our children. Was told as long as we were out by 7pm would be fine. There was quite a lot of us (We were pretty much the only people in the bar, other than about 5 other people). They were just totally stressed about the kids and worried they were going to pop their balloons that were on the floor for the evening (like adults really want balloons)!! The Bar woman and manager were making it quite clear they didn't want us there, a friend heard the Bar woman say "i'm going to strangle one of those kids in a minute" !! charming. 7 o clock and we were pretty much asked to leave - which probably took away their biggest trade that evening!

Food is fantastic, thought at first a little pricey for pub food but the standard and the generous portions make up for it. No problem with the service at the bar or restaurant. Children allowed in the restaurant until 8pm - shame they don't have a childs menu though as could eat here a lot more then.

The Wine Bar, Twickenham

Very nice decor, been redecorated very nicely - (Shame they saved on the loos.. very basic mdf!)

Food is fantastic - but each time I have been the waitresses don't seem to know what is and is not on the menu and too many mistakes made.

Tapas menu isn't as varied as it used to be but still nice. - More pricey than it used to be but the food is very good.

Fantastic child friendly pub with great outdoor play area (Don't know what we will do with our son now winter is soon upon us) An indoor play area would be great if the owner reads the reviews!!!
Shame there isn't more pubs in the area suitable for the kids.

Food is Great - slightly pricey - probably wouldn't go there for a roast at 10.95 when surrounding pubs are cheaper.

staff seem friendly enough.

Definatley worth 8.5/10

I don't know why the place keeps closing and being refurbed as never seems any different. However the waiter service for drinks is a great idea the staff are very accommodating and the food is very nice - Just think it needs more variety on the menu.

Great you can take your kids in there as well. (as long as you are out by 7.00pm) Although there isn't a kids menu.

Joes Bar and Restaurant, Hampton Hill

Have visited Joes on many occasions and seems to go more downhill every time. I recently went there as a last resort and within minutes reaslised why I had stopped going there - The owner (i think he's the owner anyway) has never been very accommodating it's meant to be "child friendly" my friends and myself asked for our bill after 10 minutes after it was obvious we would have to strap our kids to the chairs and keep them quiet!!! (baring in mind it wasn't very busy in there) That in my book isn't very child friendly. That was certainly the last time I will be leaving there disappointed, as won't be visitin again.

I have given it a 3 because rather than a big ZERO because the prices are reasonable.
