The Admiral, Reigate

An 8 rating ?

No way is this merited, although the refurb was well done.

Very clique-ish; that ex-mercedes/drunk bloke likes to take over and the staff need some supervising.

4/10.

Crown Inn, Westcott

Was in this gawdawful place last week. Tired, grubby, unkempt, run down - these adjectives don't do the place justice; its worse that that. But wait for it, another buffoon will give it a 10 rating, very soon. I think the (small) pub clique are having a laugh...like everyone else !

Swan Inn, Weymouth

This makes 10 positive posts in the past 2.5 years; this is the best Wetherspoon I've been in. Food, beer and service are all top class and at 11am in the week, the place was heaving. Those against the JDW formula could have their opinions altered here.

Crown Inn, Westcott

The 'raphaella thread' has changed.

'The pub does need some attention and - depite a legal dispute - the work is been done slowly; in the meantime, ignore the less than squeaky clean floor etc.'

In the past six months, 17 posters have now posted as described by simwilliams, a few days ago - although some defects (which were obvious to us all) are now admitted.

In truth, this a very mediocre and very quiet public house.

Crown Inn, Westcott

Sim. You were quiet correct, again

The Crown and Sceptre, South Croydon

Has the slerpy retired, emigrated - or gone back to the home for the bewildered ?

29 Dec 2008 16:00

The Tower, Redhill

The D&D is closing in February for a major refurbishment - which is not before time. Will this help to bring this awful pub back, from the brink ?

The Ramblers Rest, Chipstead

I also live near Chipstead and agree with lostparker. But smb520 has the answer - bring your dogs to the Well House or White Hart and let M&B carry on their business as they see fit.

In this weather, a clean dog is rare and - just because a pub is near woods/countryside - there is no obligation whatsoever to allows dogs in; I could name dozens of pubs in Surrey alone where dogs are not allowed in, and remain outside. Just like other places where food is served.

Crown Inn, Westcott

raphaella seems to have gone missing again; maybe she's drinking in the Prince of Wales across the road !?

The Market Hotel, Reigate

In The Market now ! That clown (markethotel2) has been fired; the place is already running much better....alleluia or aleminium, or whatever.

29 Nov 2008 21:07

Crown Inn, Westcott

When did raphaella get back ? The same untrue tone has !

25 Nov 2008 12:21

The Junction, Redhill

Tried to go in on Sunday about 5.45pm - but the place was shut.

18 Nov 2008 14:43

Bull Inn, Brasted

The western edge of Brasted, perhaps. Locals stare at casual visitors - the same faces all the time. Service and beer are just about adequate for what is just a very basic pub with little ambition.

The Red Cross Inn, Reigate

Congratulations to the RC

The 'hard work' was worth it !

10 Nov 2008 14:43

The Junction, Redhill

Looks fantastic. A good pub in Redhill at last ? Hope so.

23 Oct 2008 13:38

The Midday Sun, Chipstead

Was he watching your beergutt, Beergutt ? And pondering ?

22 Oct 2008 11:04

The Red Lion Hotel, Wendover

Well done Martin on bringing the Red Lion into the premiership.

The only negative comment on this site is the 'dog policy'.......

Is a heated patio not enough ? Do NOT give in to these moaners and keep to your successful strategies. Good luck.

11 Oct 2008 11:27

The Prince Of Wales, Westcott

Currently having major refurbishment. Reopening date unknown.

10 Oct 2008 11:16

The Market Hotel, Reigate

Toilets; see my last post. Last evening, there was a sign on the gents (previously unisex) advising ladies to use the upstairs toliet, as the downstairs ladies is now being refurbished. My advice taken ? No, the stairs were roped off as usual with no lights in the unused/upstairs bar. Brain power - none in the Market !

8 Oct 2008 15:10

The Junction, Redhill

Yes rpadam - the Junction management can't run a pub OR a website. This place (and the Dog and Duck a few hundred yards away) are a good example of why c40 pubs are closing every week in the UK. They fail under every heading - but mainly the lack of interest and effort. The Junction is closed for refurbishment !

7 Oct 2008 10:33

The Tower, Redhill

Is there a worse pub in Surrey ? This place is TERRIBLE. No hygiene, poor staff and the clientele give the Surrey Mirror most of its copy. On the market again....

6 Oct 2008 09:10

The Junction, Redhill

Awful place - poor staff, hygiene and everything else. Avoid.

The Purley Arms, South Croydon

Even after Slerpy has been made aware of the Landlady's serious illness and demise, he still talks about a scuffy pub exterior (which the pub hasn't and wasn't even mentioned in his August post). When Slerpy is dying, will he worry about the exterior of his business - or concentrate on things more important ? Perhaps not the latter; as his brain seems to have failed already. But I'm sure the Landlord's family (and regulars) appreciate his views.

2 Oct 2008 14:44

The Red Lion, Godalming

If this is the best pub in Godalming, I fear for the rest. I was in there on Sunday last at lunchtime - the only customer. A loud barmaid was conversing loudly with a barman about their hours; I won't bother returning.

1 Oct 2008 09:52

The Venture Inn, Reigate

Food, service and hygiene are all good - and as Biggus says, it may be 'the best run pub in Reigate.'

What it lacks is atmosphere. It 'dosen't feel like a friendly local' - a previous poster said. Atmosphere is what the Rat had, and the friendly Jimmy Dansie.

The Venture Inn is on the market.

29 Sep 2008 14:46

The Market Hotel, Reigate

The ladies and gents toilets are being updated (not before time). But seemingly, they can only do one at a time (three weeks now!) - and the gents is now unisex. So today, when my friend's girlfriend walked into the only toilet, she was greeted by three men urinating. Just shows the low quality/brain power of management - bearing in mind that facilities exist in the (virtually unused) upstairs bar.

25 Sep 2008 23:06

The Bulls Head, Reigate

Has the BH changed hands again !! Was in last night - new staff and management.

25 Sep 2008 11:01

The Black Horse, Gomshall

This pub is now closed. Amen.

2 Aug 2008 01:10

The Angel, Reigate

Gutzeit(good time) says the Angel is closed; this is odd, as I was at my mate's wedding there last week. Service and food - were great. Mostly people from Canons, up the road; this is our local; it will never close - bearing in mind the recent 1m refurb.

2 Aug 2008 00:45

Crown Inn, Westcott

Raph/Gut. Biker didn't comment then ?!

1 Aug 2008 23:10

Crown Inn, Westcott

The integrity of this site is at risk. Negative comments deleted ? O K...The Crown at Westcott is just about average.......but let us say so on here !

1 Aug 2008 17:11

Crown Inn, Westcott

Raphaella paints an idyllic picture, albeit an inaccurate one [his/her first on BITE !] 'Sixteen pairs of eyes' - a rare ocurrence in the Crown these days; this pub is just mediocre and the landlord recenty admitted to the Dorking Advertiser that the terrible and ongoing Westcott roadworks [directly outside the pub, making parking dangerous/impossible] had taken their tole. Not his fault - but Raphaella must be admonished for blatant embellishment. Contrivance ? No doubt !

27 Jul 2008 10:45

Air Balloon, Horley

Made the mistake of calling in for food - twice in the last few months; didn't get fed either time. Last week, Tuesday, the delay - we were told by the solitary barman - was 35 mins. Prices are good, 2 for 1 etc. But, how relevant is that - if the goods cannot be produced ?

14 Jul 2008 13:29

The Dukes Head, Beare Green

Yes, this pub has recently closed - don't know why.

5 Jul 2008 10:49

The Market Hotel, Reigate

Comments below are accurate, particularly Adrian S - 'boring, souless place that fails to invite'. A 'small family run business' describes the owners who obviously have little (or no) interest. How then could their staff ?

28 Jun 2008 10:36

The Harp, Old Radnor

Enough already.

19 Jun 2008 16:30

The Victory Inn, Brighton

Mediocre outlet. Good 'lanes' corner location - but could do a lot better. My visit (last Sunday week) was at lunchtime and the barman was barely polite and seemed bored of his job - and life ! The new Youngs' Seven Stars, just around the corner (where O'Neills was), will emphasise this pub's lack of ambition.
