The Florence Tavern, Islington

Bottles of house wine are 6.95 at happy hour, but red is far nicer than the white...but good value. Thai food is ok, if a little greasy. Bar staff are young and range from being fine, to seemingly disinterested in working at all. The ladies toilets are awful, and the general toilet smell in the entire pub last week was enough to make us turn on our heels and leave - smoking in pubs was at least good for masking other smells!

The Garden, Islington

Now called the vineyard it has had a facelift. Bar is cleaner and nicer. Food is fried fodder of no real impact. Toilets no longer stink, but the actual toilet bowls are still the same, very low and one of the doors doesnt lock in the ladies...We asked for the white wine on offer and was told it was not on - when we asked if there was an alternative we were told no, so at 15 for the cheapest bottle we left!

The Corner Store, Covent Garden

was fine for a Sunday afternoon reading the papers with a friend, although music swapped between sublime Cafe Del Mar esque CD to a classical vibe...not really what I expect to hear in a bar!The staff were friendly and the wine was pleasant and cold. Terrible toilets - blocked, messy and smelt like damp dog. Member of staff seemed genuinely embarassed when I told him this and said he would get it sorted...

The Euston Flyer, Euston

Transient pub, understandable given its location. Wine was warm, and spilt by miserable bar maid when I asked for some ice. no apology came. The toilets were hideous - paper/rubbish all over them and two of them badly blocked. When I asked the petulant bar maid if they had been checked recently she just shrugged her shoulders...hopefully I will never need to go here again...
