It's clean, the staff are very polite and helpful. Fair selection of beers, not sure about real ale though!
The food is cheap and good value for money. Good for a cheap lunch.

Well worth a visit. Very good Pub Food but, more importantly, there is a chalk board with Chef's Specials. The chef really knows his business.
Plenty of real ales from the barrel. It has loads of local character, and characters! Don't be put off by the forbidding exterior. Prices very reasonable.

The Coach and Horses, Billericay
Had a very good lunch at the Coach & Horses today. My wife & I eat out approximately once a fortnight for lunch. We look for something more than the usual Pub Fare and we were not disappointed today. This is probably the 4th or 5th visit here over 3 years and as usual there was something really good on the menu. My wife had Ostrich Steak that seemed to be marinated in herbs, very tasty! Mine was a fish dish I had never heard of before, Thai River Cobbler. The accompaniment was really imaginative. So you can see; better than the usual pub lunch! The sizes were generous.
The guest ale was excellent, Sharps. (I had to have a second pint to be sure that I was enjoying it.) We also shared a bottle of wine,not particularly cheap at �13.00.
So, if you think this was an expensive lunch you would be wrong! The lot came to a little over �35.00. Yes, I have had cheaper lunches, but, all in all, I would say that it was very good value for money.
By the way, I didn't drive afterwards. Billericay is served with a very good bus service
