The Lodmoor, Weymouth

Stayed at the attached Premier Inn ; otherwise wouldnt have touched this place with someone elses bargepole ! Only had a drink in there one evening , couldnt see any proper ale so went into Stella Default , they didnt have any of that either ! Place was dirty and service poor . Although the few staff we spoke to were pleasant and helpful . My starter course was excellent , my wifes was dry and tasteless . Main course took ages to arrive but was ok . My wife assures me that I DID ENJOY our stay in weymouth and must come again . Hope this place improved by then ?

Strawberry Duck, Manchester

Was on a canal boat holiday last week . We passed by the Duck one morning, but the shutters were still up . Pity cos it looked really tempting and we could've all done with a pint !

Chequers, Orton Wistow

I used to love this pub, they had a fabulous range of guest beers . The very last pub where I managed to find a pint of Owd Roger !
this pub is now closed and is a Tesco Express shop.

The Bridge at Napton, Napton

We [4 thirsty lads ] visited this drinker in early May 2012. We had been on a boat cruising the Warks Ring. The rain was belting down so we decided to moor up overnight . We found a very pleasant pint indeed, sorry I cant remember what it was ! But we enjoyed quite a few of them ! Then a girl came out and lit the fire for us, so we enjoyed quite a few more. We did not eat at this pub so cannot comment on the food .I had one last pint and rolled back to the boat to cook supper.
I am planning to cruise Warks Ring again next May , and will endeavour to visit this drinker again ,should we pass it by at opening time.

Rising Sun, Stanford-le-Hope

First time ever in the Rising Sun. Not the most attractive comfortable pub I've ever been in ! However ,I came for the range of ales, notably the Crouch Vale ales which are rarely available where I live. I had a superb pint of CV Snowdrop and though there were many other tempting looking handpumps I stuck with Snowdrop. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Stanford and the Rising Sun

Star, Stone

We visited this pub in May of 2011. There were 6 of us on a canal boat holiday. This is the first time I had visited this little drinker for many years, yet it was every bit as good as I remembered it. Although I have forgotten the ale I had ,it was tasty and well kept and served. The rest of our crew were similarly complimentary of their beers. Although I did not eat myself , most other crewmembers did and told me food was reasonably priced and good.
I had previously walked into Stone to get some shopping for the boat. I was amazed at the size of the place. I had always thought it to be an obscure little canalside village . How wrong can I have been!?
Plenty of other pubs ,restaurants, takeaways and shops. Stone [especially the Star] is well worth a look or even an overnight stop if you are canal cruising.

The Anchor, High Offley

Not been to this drinker for over 20 yrs now,but hoping for a return visit in next couple of months. It looks like they dont sell Owd Roger any more.Anyone been recently and know which beers are on?
I remember it as a great find ,a little canal pub of a bygone age. Quite isolated and rural. Really looking forward to a return visit;this time without "She who Must "

The Bishop's Finger, Barbican

Not been in this pub for years now. Though pleased to see its still going. Will call in for a few next time I'm in that direction. I used to go in quite a lot when I worked just accross the road. Does anyone else recollect a landlord name of TINY ? Early 70's I think? we heard he was sacked so we boycotted the place for a coupla months;never saw him again though. Eventually the lure the best Sheps for miles was too much! Anyone else recall Tiny?
