Charters Bar, Peterborough

The Barge is 100 years old over Easter so that weekend there is a beer festival at Charters to celebrate this event. With the food upstairs and the new beer garden this pub has just got better. If you are in Peterborough and you like a wide selection of good beer, this is the place.

No I don't work there, its just a very good pub.

Chequers, Orton Wistow

Avoid. Terrible pub - open plan, wide screen TV, smokey and full of the local low lifes. Shame really, as the area is crying out for a decent pub. No redeeming features really.

The Narrow Street Pub & Dining Room, Limehouse

Walked past here the other day. Asked the staff and they said it was due to reopen on the 19 March. Should be interesting, great location.

All Bar One, Canary Wharf

Made the mistake of going in midweek. Packed with office workers talking about work, great place for an industrial spy - loads of corporate information to be picked up!. Hard to filter out the noise and relax. Pint of Pedegree was okay and the menu looked alright. Probably worth a visit at the weekend and with the outdoor tables, one for a bit of people watching come the summer. If sensitive to loud business men and women, avoid during the week....

The Lord Nelson, Isle of Dogs

Potentially this could be my local, so went in to check it out. Reasonably crowd in for a Thursday night. Quiet atmosphere, missed the Bombadier when I ordered, so had a couple of pints of Guinness. Fair pint. Ate there as well. Menu pretty good and not too expensive. Had the cottage pie and then Apple Pie and custard. Apple Pie excellent. Barman very friendly and there's free wireless internet if you want to bring your laptop. Nice pub, I'll go back.

The Prospect of Whitby, Wapping

Went here after the Captain Kidd and thought it was alot better. Good pint of Greene King IPA, bar very quiet - but it was early (5). Tables round the back have a good view of the river and a nice outside area. Menu looked good and I will definatly go back to checkout the food.

The Captain Kidd, Wapping

Popped in at 5 to check this pub out. Sam Smiths seemed to be the only bitter. Not my choice of what I would normally order, but okay pint. Barmaid very friendly, but with only 6 people in perhaps she was lonely! Nice outside area to watch the river, ideal in summer. I'd certainly go back when its warmer.

Walkers of Whitehall, Whitehall

Went here on a Friday night at 6.30, very busy. No seats downstairs. Took 10 minutes to get served. Having said the Speckled Hen was good and the wine okay. Some nice seating areas for when it was not as busy. We ate there as well, that was disappointing. Small portions and pretty bland. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, average pub in a good location. Worth poping in for a beer, but eat elsewhere.
