The Winston Hotel, Southampton
Stayed ther for a night in December '11 as I had a flood at my home. Food was fine but the room was noisy. I was put on Hill Lane side by the traffic lights. If you do stay there try and get somewhere to the back. Terrible nights sleep but the staff were very friendly.

Now close and a One Stop store on the site. This was my first experience of a pint. Way back then it was a pint of Red Barrel for 1s (5p now) bloomin' expensive, lol. They had a bar billiards table in there and it must be worth a forune now. Went in there a few years ago and I must have had two heads or something! I live locally and didn't know a soul in there. They probaby thought I was copper os something as there was a lot of furtive movements going on. Shame it's closed as with the right management it would have made a lovely foodie pub. Oh well!

Totally agree with the other post. We went there last year for birthday meal (10/12 of us) and the sevice was terrible. We waited 30 minutes for the sweet to be told, when I went to the bar to enquire where it was that half of our choice was not avaialable! Why not tell me when I placed and paid for it? Idiots. Never even got a refund because the process was a shambles. Wouldn't even go in there now to use the toilets! Just one comment about 'unhappycustomer123',s comment, why pay for the meal if it was crap? I wouldn't have done and I'm sure it's pay on order anyway.

When the staff haven't got a clue what a 'shandy' is then it's time to turn around and walk out the door. This is what I did!!
