The Bridge Inn, Newark

Looks a bit rough and ready. Locals and landlord / lady exceptionally friendly, and made to feel very welcome.

Food was simple, but plentiful. The sort of food I would, and can cook at home. The landlady fed my kids as if they hadn't eaten in years!

Would like to visit again and have a session here mid winter. It would be a load of fun.

Blue Pig, Wolvey

Lovely traditional pub in a wonderful location. Friendly welcome and well patronised.

Unfortunately I visited during a lunchtime and couldn't try any of the ales, but will return one hot sunny evening for a few drinks.

The Marina, Hinckley

Fantastic location right next to the marina.

However just another plastic chain pub, where the emphasis is on selling cheap food rather than offering a pub atmosphere.

Small kids play area in the dining area to keep the kids occupied whilst the cooks microwave your dinner.

Greyhound Inn, Hinckley

The landlord / lady changed approx 18 months ago. The Kidzone area has been removed, and is now a venue for up and coming bands.

Have not visited since so cannot post an opinion or rating.

The New Plough Inn, Hinckley

Traditional pub selling real ales, and offering a very friendly atmosphere, both from staff and regulars.

Slightly out of town, so does not attract the loutish crowd.

Landlord and lady show go out of their way to make the pub a focal point of the community as opposed to somewhere to drink, not least by taking over the running the Hinckley Carnival, and deserve to be applauded for their efforts.

The pub is also the Hinckley and Bosworth pub of the year for 2011.
