Crown Inn, Playhatch

Delicious food made with great quality ingredients served in nice surroundings. But expect a fairly hefty bill at the end. We'll be back.

The Old Devil, Knowl Hill

Extensive menu and though relatively expensive, food was excellent. Pub favourites like sausages & mash and chill were well presented and tasted super. Only criticism was that service was not that friendly. Good choice of ales and well kept. Recommended.

The Horse and Groom, Merrow

Good choice of beers but overlit interior and microwave food menu (though very good value for money). Historical pub not presented in its best possible light but OK for a quick beer or two and a steak and ale pie.

Pub, Chilworth

Would agree with comments that food does not justify the price these days. When the current owners took over a few years ago there was a real improvement but I think that standards have slipped. My recommendation would be to get back to basics, improve the service and improve the food to reflect its high price. With the fantastic views and great beer garden this could be a super pub with a bit of work.

The Albany, Guildford

Great for a drink but food very basic and uninspiring for a true "gastro" pub. Fairly pleasant inside and one of Guildford's better places for those like myself in the over 30 age range.

The Anchor and Horseshoes, Burpham

The food is one of the features of this pub as it offers excellent value for money and good quality. Staff are also very friendly. The decor could do with updating inside but if its a sunny day the beer garden is more than adequate. Maybe a better choice of beers would be my only other criticism.
