The Earl Ferrers, Streatham

For some reason Streatham has a dearth of decent pubs. Taylors is the pick of a bad bunch on the high road but the two best ones by far are this and The Railway.

This is quite hidden away but well worth finding as its a little gem. It's small & homely, sunday lunch is great (and busy so book ahead if you can), and there's a nice selection of beers. On our first visit we were welcomed really warmly & the food we've eaten there has always been very tasty. Unlike so many pubs they actually seem to care if you will return or not.

The White Lion, Streatham

gawd bless em they try at the white lion, but its always DEAD in there, regulars seem to have gone elsewhere due to the revamp but i cant seem to attract new people. no people = no atmosphere, a pub i always walk past unfortunately as it feels like drinking in a museum.

Taylors, Streatham

best pub on the high road BY A MILE. good service, nice moody (i.e. proper pub) lighting, quiz machine, decent music. Only complaint was that it was too smoky but now the smoking ban has kicked in its great. well worth a visit. food really good value, nachos are massive, and the chicken with cheese & bacon is yum, burgers look massive. nice mix of young and old, regulars & 1st timers i.e just want you want in a pub

The Perfect Blend, Streatham

The place was recently voted one of the best places to get a burger in London in the Guardian - never had it myself so cant comment but i was very surprised by that. can only echo comments below - this place cant make up its mind if its a cafe or bar, despite some nice beer selection, it does feel like gettin drunk in starbucks. oh yeah, service can be pretty rubbish as well, not waitresses fault, just woefully understaffed. food is nice tho & welcome addition to the high road
