The Dorset Knob, Parkstone

I use this pub every now and then and dont agree with the comments made on july 7th. Its not a bad pub although it is a bit expensive.

The Cow, Parkstone

A classy bistro type place i,ve heard from people who have been there. Its just a shame its at the expense of the Parky which was one of the best boozers in Poole.

The Pottery, Foxholes

Good atmosphere and friendly once the locals get to know you. On the downside this pub is tatty. Bare boards and extremely nicotine stained walls. It needs a refit or at least a lick of paint.

The Potters Arms, Hamworthy

From my experience do not drink here if your not a local. I have drank here twice and have been totally ignored by barstaff and locals.

The Vine, Pamphill

Used to play darts here years ago.
Imagine it 2 teams [about 8 people in each team]playing in a room no bigger than an average bedroom. As a visiting team though we always loved this fixture its a very special little pub.

St Peters Finger, Lytchett Minster

Loveley place to go in the summer. Friendly, relaxed country pub.

The New Star Inn, Branksome

New big screen tv in the public bar, reasonable prices and friendly what more could you want. Some of the comments at the bottom are quite bizzare.I think the people who made them have not visited the pub. It had a reputaion a long time ago and mud sticks. The public bar can get loud and occasionaly boistrous but its all good natured.

The Pilot, Canford Heath

As blondie says its a classy refit. But all the hairy locals from the old shithole still drink there. It has attracted a few more youngsters which i think is its aim.

The Cock And Bottle, Morden

The food here is overpriced and you dont get a lot of it.However its great grub, theplace is always busy so they must be doing something right.

The Royal Oak and Gas Tavern, Poole

Good beer if not a little pricey.Locals friendly and like to talk.A vast difference from the riff raff next door in the pure drop.

Deacons, Boscombe

Best to be streetwise if you use this place.

The Albion, Poole

A good little pub.I only come here occasionaly but if i lived close iwould use it a lot. I agree with the last comment it can be quiet god knows why its the only pub for about a mile.As for the food its very good.

The Tatnam Hotel, Poole

Johns description of the pub is pretty spot on.I differ on the friendly locals though.I,ve been in the public bar on occasions and found the younger drinkers to be far from friendly.

The Pure Drop Inn, Poole

A pub with a lot of character and full of characters worth a visit.

The Dorset Knob, Parkstone

I have drank here a few times and found the pub quite friendly and welcoming.Service is good beer a little expensive.Like most of the pubs around here it has one or two nutters. One night i was in there and somebody who had too much to drink picked up about five pool cues from the rack and threw{all five at once}across the length of the bar.Godknows how nobody was hit.He was not asked to leave which i found disturbing.

The Red Lion, Hamworthy

thought the closing down of the double six at turlin moor afew years ago would rub off on this place. It has not .I have visited the pub on a few ocasions and found it friendly and welcoming good food too.

The Oakdale Hotel, Oakdale

If you like steak or mixed grill type pub food look no further. Takeit from me ihave tried everywhere locally and you wont beat this place for size, quality and price.

The Branksome Railway, Branksome

I went in this pub a while back and found it to be a tatty seedy place.Ive walked past a few times since and have not seen anything to change my mind.

The Ferryman, Poole

An interesting little pubon the docks. When you walk in you will probably be taken back by the decorations.Ships wheels, flags, framed currency on the walls and maritime ornaments everywhere.A mans pub, most of the locals are working men or military types. One word of warning when staggering out of this pub watch the road aslorries fly round the bend about 15 yards from the pub entrance.

The Lord Nelson, Poole

This pub is very popular in the town.THe pub itself is nothing special but because of its location it is usually packed. Good service and vibrant atmosphere.

11 Oct 2003 18:45

The New Star Inn, Branksome

Brilliant service. If the staff know you your drink is sometimes ready before you ask for it.

Monsoon, Wareham

I used to use this pub a lot but only because i worked round the corner.Handy for a lunchtime drink but thats about all.

5 Oct 2003 20:16

The Vine, Pamphill

I have not been to this pub for some time. But if its anything like i remember, its unique. Definetly one of the smallest, most quaint and charming pubs in England.
