This pub well deserves its low ratings. I can't think of anything to commend it.

Like the poster from Detroit, I remember this pub when Bunnie (surname George by coincidence) ran the pub.
It's changed a a lot, but it's normally possible to get a seat for a pint of well kept, if somewhat expensive, beer.

One of a small chain of pubs on the Island, this one stands out as outstanding for it's excellent beer, friendly staff and good pub food.
One of the very few good pubs in Newport.

Excellent range of well kept beer and friendly staff. Food is also well worth a try.

Newport Ale House, Newport
A great little pub and when the beer is good it's an excellent little pub. The atmosphere is always good, like in times gone by when people actually talked to each other in pubs and the landlord is very friendly. The only caveat I would add is that gravity beer is not to everyone's liking and can be a bit lifeless.
