The Winning Hand, Beenham

Web site advises it is now closed. Staff have relocated to Pincents Manor Hotel, Calcot.

The Rising Sun, Stockcross

Noticed it was closed today and there is no obvious link to it now on the West Berks Brewery web site unlike before.

The Angel, Woolhampton

Seen closed and boarded up today.

The Molesworth Arms, Pyworthy

Used this pub and had excellent meals beforehand whilst on holiday but was advised tonight they no longer do food due to the economic circumstances. A real pity.

Their web site could do with updating to reflect this.

The Blue Ball, Kintbury

Visited for the first time Sunday 29th May having previously walked past the garden and wondered what it was like. We wanted a small snack and knew from memory that the near by Dundas Arms does not serve food on a Sunday.

A steady stream of customers around early lunch time, good service, Ramsbury ale and a pizza were on offer. The roast dinners we saw looked good too.

Landlord (we believe) made the effort to enquire on how we found the food - not all do!

The Bull, Stanford Dingley

The Bull re-opened Sunday 15th May 2011 and was looking good and busy.
Familiar face of Laura from the Queens Head at nearby Bradfield - a good pub too.
Worth checking out for dinner very soon.

The Old Boot Inn, Stanford Dingley

Due to the recent change of chef and as we had not visited for eating at the Old Boot Inn for a month it was about time we checked out the experience. On arrival we were served drinks to the table by owner John Haley.

The bar and conservatory were both reassuringly busy for a Friday night.

Choice of weekly specials on the blackboard above the fireplace, an A La Carte menu and Bar menu. We opted for a mixture from the Specials and A La Carte and are pleased to confirm the experience was excellent like before. My venison from the specials was so tasty I just hope it stays available!

Thanks to the chef Simon Rudd, John, Ovi and Brian for another enjoyable experience.

Excellent meal and service Saturday night. Restaurant full. Definitely worth a visit for a special occasion.

The Bull, Stanford Dingley

Passed by Monday 18/10/10 - not convinced the Bull is open - the note on the front door would suggest not. There are 3 of the bright orange planning notices though by the entrance to the car park so some work is being planned. West Berks council ref 10/01901/LBC found on the planning portal has further information.

The Rising Sun, Stockcross

Visited last Friday - food definitely improved from the previous landlord. West Berks ales seemed fine but I do not claim to be an expert. Lady serving behind the bar previously worked at the Rising Sun so a familiar face. Looked like John was working in the kitchen with Val at the bar. Early days yet so will be visiting again in the coming months to see how John & Val are getting on. Hopefully they will soon get their telephone sorted out - keeping the old number will help - and can accept debit/credit cards.

The Six Bells, Beenham

A nice friendly welcome on a Friday night for our 19:30 dinner. After ordering our drinks we were given the choice of choosing from the menu in the small bar area or in the restaurant - we choose the restaurant since there was about to be a hen party and there were already several other couples choosing in the small bar area. The dinner courses arrived without a long wait and were noted for their excellent presentation and for being very tasty. Good quality drinks and excellent service. We can highly recommend a visit.

The Bull, Stanford Dingley

Believed to have changed ownership just before Christmas.
Looked closed on New Years Day and appeared closed when passed 09/01/10.
Will add a review when I next pass and find it open.

The Bull, Stanford Dingley

27th November evening visit - again a great curry for 6 including a pint. This time a Lamb Balti, marked as medium on the menu but actually fairly hot. We were pre-warned by the owner, Alistair so no problem. Plenty of people in, mainly eating the curry where we sat in front of a nice glowing wood fire. Something about a log fire in a pub serving good food and drink that I like!

The Bull, Stanford Dingley

Visited the Bull Friday 30th October at 7.30pm. Very busy with a mixed age crowd- a good sign. The 6 curry including pint of beer offer still available. Glad we arrived when we did as the curry ran out later - Alistair - the owner - checked on us personally but he knows us by now so maybe we get special service. Glad too see too that the roof works appear complete now and the pub is looking good again from the outside without the scaffolding.

The Bull, Stanford Dingley

This pub sadly was closed as a business when visited in late 2007.

The Queens Head, Bradfield

New owners since I believe late 2007.
Good attentive service and food albeit at the upper middle end of the price scale.
Drink prices about mid priced for West Berks.
