Case is Altered, Old Redding

The last anonymous poster appears to have had an unusually bad experience. This pub certainly isn't what it used to be (I spent many memorable summer evenings playing the garden as a kid), having become a local haunt for chav families sporting a lot of gold and tattoos and swigging strong lager for most of the summer. This is a pity as it should be a fantastic family pub with its enormous grounds and playground. These days, the service is sometimes unfriendly and often slow, but it is still a half decent place for a drink during the week or at any time that the crowds are somewhere else. Haven't eaten at this pub for a while so can't vouch for the menu.

The Spanish Arch, Harrow

Typical Irish-themed pub but at least it's run by authentic Irish and serves good Guinness (no real ales, but you wouldn't expect them). A number of large screens mean that you can usually catch whichever sporting event you're keen to see (although the bias is towards soccer and celtic sports). Friendly service, a good bar menu and a pleasant crowd. Limited parking outside the pub.

Cock O' The North, Bel Bar

More of a pub/restaurant than a pub. Food is pricey but the McMullens is well kept and served. Nice surroundings and friendly staff. Tables outside in the summer (make sure you get a table before you try to order food, though!). Gets very busy at lunchtimes, especially on Fridays. This pub is too far from anywhere to really be anyone's local, so it's a little impersonal but it's not a bad place for a lunch stop.

The Malthouse, Stanmore

The Malthouse is a curious place. At present it is being refurbished so it may rise like a Phoenix from the ashes. What it used to be was a dirty, dark, dingy place that only ever made any money because it had a late licence. But it did have character and although no one I know would even think of going there if they weren't already drunk, I've nver failed to have a good time when I did. And the drinks are fairly reasonable too. Disco till late (music is universally terrible).

The Duck in the Pond, Harrow

A pleasant, clean pub, spaciously laid out. The gardens are a bonus in summer. Drinks are not especially cheap. It's what might be called a family pub, I suppose - the crowd is mixed and it's a generally calm kind of place to drink.
