The Twelve Bells, Cirencester

Great pub. Not much to look at from the outside and those used to gleaming, modern, urban pubs will find the bar plain and not immediately inviting. Get over this and stay. Very well kept beers and excellent food. (With the exception of a bowl of fries, which did not taste home-made). And a very welcoming landlord.

The Wells Tavern, Hampstead

As some reviewers have noted, this is not a pub in the traditional sense of the word but a gastropub. If that's what you're after then it is well worth a go. I've been here twice now to pass away a Sunday afternoon and will be back soon. The beers were well-kept and the food, though pricey, is excellent. The burger, in particular, is the best burger I've ever had in a pub. Minor complaint: the chairs aren't the most comfortable I've ever sat in. They seem designed to squeeze you out rather than settle you in.

The Marble Hill, St Margarets

Went here a few Saturday nights ago having noted that it won some pub of the year award. It was terrible. Practically no one there and the atmosphere of a unpopular morgue.

The Idle Hour, Putney

Still hasn't got going yet. Went there a couple of weeks ago and was disappointed after hearing such good things about the Barnes branch. The staff were rather lifeless and the food was good but not exceptional. Deserves to be much better.
