The White Hart, South Woodford

Now empty after Mojoe lost its late licence following years of violence and anti-social behaviour. It became a nightclub by stealth and subterfuge and £130,000 of legal costs later the council has finally shot its fox.
Nice to be able to walk past again without being assailed by drunks and having to negotiate barriers.

The Sandacres Free House, Sandbanks

Every little helps, but it won't here. Too bad.

The Indian Queen, Boston

After a closure, now under new management and a very different, staider place. Still Batemans but guests allowed, including one from Wainfleet itself.

Leyton Orient Supporter's Club, Leyton

The only pub I pay money to get to.
The biannual Piglet festival has 30 or 40 ales and a few ciders and perries. There are always six on and a themed night every couple of months with a dozen or so. Where else could you drink dark mild and porter all night without repeating yourself? Perfect.

Case is Altered, Old Redding

Nothing wrong with an Indian restaurant, but there is a very great deal wrong with overcharging for half-pints- in this case 2 for a 3.50 pint. We've never been fleeced in a British pub before and it's a very unpleasant feeling. These aren't even curry house prices.
Not long for this world as a pub. Far better- and cheaper- to go to the Grimsdyke Hotel a 10-minute walk away.

The Coy Carp, Uxbridge

It's a canal, not a river, and the building has been here almost as long, but never mind. Delightful, warm and inviting, well-kept beer.

Maltsters Arms, Abridge

Hospitable local with no pretensions to be anything else, well-kept IPA and a guest or two. There is a curry night though, just as well as otherwise one would have to go a few miles.

VERY lively. You might need to build up to this place.

The Travellers Friend, Woodford Green

Priceless. A gem. This is where I had my last pint of Ridley's but they can't be blamed for that. Always three or four well kept ones on. Don't know what the detractors are talking about, sounds like somewhere else, or maybe they were wearing their grumpy hats that day.

The White Hart, South Woodford

No longer even a pub but a night club which is a very bad neighbour., blocking the pavement with its fencing and tents. Fifty yards of cones obstructing the cycle lanes make it quite dangerous to pass. Surly, offensive and ignorant bouncers.
I now cross the road to avoid it.
