The Barge, Woolstone

I used to enjoy this pub but stopped using at as the service was lousy at best. Went back on Tuesday evening and waited at the bar for at least 20 minutes before walking out and taking my business elsewhere. The pub wasn't even busy, but with one person serving drinks and taking food orders the bar was 4 deep and the bar person wasn't able to serve people in order. I will never step foot in this pub again.

The Little Angel, Whitby

I'm reliably informed that there is now new management in place so looking forward to seeing the Little Angel getting back to its best.

Raw, Whitby

Ahh, well, what can you say? After 20 years Whitby finally got a decent bar/nightclub. Everyone in town laughs at the Big A and Laughtons "nightclub" that are horrid places, and you get to RAW with its slick, yet friendly atomosphere, good music (up with Leeds and London's standard of DJ's). Even the staff appear to be having fun. Usual selection of beers, wines and cocktails (along with some choice champagnes I noticed. Main bar is very lively but if you want to chill out there's another bar a bit more laid back upstairs.. No trouble, no idiots and had a real fun night out.. will go back for sure..

The Postgate Inn, Egton Bridge

Just popped in for a quick pint and I have to say what a great cosy pub with very friendly staff. Will have to try their food the next time.

The Station Inn, Whitby

Vastly improved since the new owners took over. Always busy, fun crowd.

The Big Angel, Whitby

Ha! This is an absolute dive, run by people who obviously don't care about customers. The toilets stink and the whole atmosphere is unwelcoming. There are many better places to have a drink. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than go to the "Big A"

The Anglesea Arms, Chelsea

Disoevred this super little pub last week after working in the area for 3 years !

Great selection of beers, nice staff and yes the food is goo if a tad expensive.

The Tap and Spile, Whitby

The great news is that the utter nutcases that ran this pub have now gone and everybody in town is looking forward to being able to use it again.

Zigfrid, Hoxton

There is something magical about this place. It must be a combination of the well designed interior where I suspect an equal amount of thought and randomness makes it really cool, and just the amazing mix of people you meet. Good selection of beers and the food I had was good value (Sunday brunch menu). Certainly a place that I'd go back to again and again.

Henry J Beans, Chelsea

Went here today for lunch (Thursday) despite reading the reviews below. Well I can't say anything bad about the place, but please take into account it wasn't busy at the time.

Walked in, one of the staff came up to us at the bar and asked if we where eating today, said yes and was shown to a table. Round of drinks ordered, burgers ordered. Everything was handled with a smile. Burgers where super and not *that* expensive for london. Will definitely go back and see what it's like when it's busy.

The Swan, Salford

This is one of those pubs that is just downright nice. From the modern interior, nice beer garden, food to die for. If I could afford to move to Salford I would !!

Every time I go it's always a relaxing time.

great staff, great crowd of people.

The Great Malvern Hotel, Great Malvern

This is a great place to drink and eat, especially the outside area. Often go hill walking and this place is perfect for relaxing afterwards.

Grog and Gruel, Fort William

Great pub, food was very good. The restaurant upstairs gets very busy so get in early. They had to turn away loads of people. Being very nice people they sent them to the other pub across the road.

The Garrick Arms, Trafalgar Square

Really friendly staff, and the food is great considering it wasn't expensive for London.

The Trafalgar, Chelsea

Ok, wasn't busy so service was fine. Beer was good, nice looking place but the food was cold, potato wedges also slightly undercooked.

The Cannon, Newport Pagnell

Can't go wrong. Interior full of interesting stuff. Always enjoyed my visits.

Dolphin, Newport Pagnell

Genuine and nice pub. Good food.

The Australian, Sloane Square

You need a pickaxe to cut through the disgusting amount of smoke in this place. I've been their twice and left before getting served on both occasions. Stinging eyes is a bad sign.

The Crown, Chelsea

Great "pub" - only 3 or 4 seats for drinking - the rest is for eating in the back restaurant.

However, we just dropped in for a pint and a baguette and where really bowled ovr by the real friendly guy that served us. Had a scrummy ham, cheese and pickle baguette.

Will deffo' go again and highly recommend the place.

The Queens Head, Chelsea

If you like sushi, order the fish and chips as ours was raw.

20 May 2005 09:26

The Moon Under Water, Milton Keynes

Cheap hangout for the worst of Milton Keynes' chavs, pikeys and people with borderline personality disorders.

20 May 2005 09:23

The Elsinore, Whitby

Another great Whitby pub. Always worth a visit as you get a few "characters" in..

20 May 2005 09:19

The Wellington, Whitby

A busy, nice and lively pub.

20 May 2005 09:18

The Buck, Whitby

Always popular, always a bit minging but OK enough.

20 May 2005 09:16

The Board Inn, Whitby

Really nice mix of locals and tourists. They have created a no smoking area now but that space is bland. Great harbour views out the back. Always nice to sit and chuckle at the hapless few who go up the 199 steps and are out of breath just looking at the climb.

20 May 2005 09:16

Duke of York, Whitby

Best pub in Whitby - that's all!

20 May 2005 09:13

The Swag and Tails, Knightsbridge

Massive secret this is a gastro pub tucked down the back streets opposite harrords. Fantastic ambience and food. Always happy helpful staff and owners.

20 May 2005 09:05

The Wilton Arms, Belgravia

Perfect compact pub. Always nice to stand outside with a pint or two in the sunshine. View out of the back window was always funny. I think it was a tropical mural on a brick wall inches from the window.

Staff always nice, and would reserve tables for us if a crowd was coming.

20 May 2005 08:58

The Nags Head, Belgravia

On our first visit to this place we where accosted by the landlord as we stepped through the front door and ordered not to use our mobiles. Sat in the back bar and had to move as the ceiling was dripping water on us. Staff where intolerable and the whole place belongs in Royston Vasey

20 May 2005 08:56

Paxtons Head, Knightsbridge

Yeah, everyone knows this as stabbers - not sure how accurate this urban myth is though. Used to work over the road from it and spent many a happy and very safe time in there. Great english menu and fantastic pan asian food also.

20 May 2005 08:52

The Builders Arms, Chelsea

Nice enough, food is pricey if you are just after a snack. Always relaxed. Occasionally get awful service if its busy.

20 May 2005 08:50

The Hour Glass, South Kensington

Small and friendly. Just recently had their food menu revamped and by gosh is it nice now. Everything freshly cooked. We miss the opportunity to buy bangers and mash with - wait - 9 Sausages!!! that was on the old menu.

Even though it is small, always manage to get a seat.

20 May 2005 08:47

The Coopers Arms, Chelsea

Great pub! Nice and airy feel, really nice bar staff. On our first visit one of the regulars hunted out a few spare chairs for us - how nice!

Food looks/smells good - will have to try it out next time.

20 May 2005 08:44

The Admiral Codrington, Brompton

Always a pleasant atmosphere, nice enough staff. I guess it's priced to keep the plebs out. Excellent food in the restaurant at the back, maybe they should change the menu a bit more often.
