The Salisbury Arms, Cambridge

Why do I not come in here more regularly? It has such an amazing atmosphere, no other pub like it in Cambridge. Long, narrow bar, double height ceilings create a feeling of space not found in many of Cambridge's other back street pubs. In my top 5 Cambridge Pub list for sure.

The Portland Arms, Cambridge

I have to disagree with the last comment. This is my work local (you're allowed 2). Great ales, good conversation, great live music and above all, I feel completely comfortable popping in at any time.

The Anchor, Little Downham

It's open! Went for a meal expecting good things, was disappointed with a tough old steak and oily chips. I did have a really nice pint of Hobgoblin though. Considering it's now aimed more at eating than drinking, they really need to up their game.

Lighthouse Inn, Walcott

We stopped in here two or three times during our recent trip to Norfolk, wonderful place, landlord was very accommodating, food was expensive but delicious. Beer was nice too.

The Druids, Cambridge

This place closed as a pub years ago, it's now a Chinese Restaurant.

The St Radegund, Cambridge

Full of weirdos drinking great beer, still has a cassette player behind the bar. Ceiling is covered in smokey writing. Small.

The Anchor, Little Downham

Any idea when this place might re open? It's been closed for years now and the renovation is taking ages!

The Hill House, Happisburgh

Read some really positive reviews about this place and was looking forward to frequenting this place every evening during my recent holiday in Happisburgh. However, after my first visit, I didn't feel comfortable going back. The locals were rowdy and one particular bloke liked making me feel awkward about asking him to move each time I needed to get to the bar. If I hadn't been with my wife I would have invited him outside after his third attempt to threaten me. The pint I had was ok though....

The Old Spring, Cambridge

I quite like this place, even though the beer is really expensive 3.80 for a pint of ale. Certainly not the best pub in Cambridge but it's well kept and has decent ales on. Also, they do really nice pork scratchings!

The Prince of Wales, Ilfracombe

Fantastic place. My wife and I came to Ilfracombe for the week with our dog and we all loved it here. The landlord was a good guy, one of the locals who saw us outside with our dog that told us we could take him inside with us, which made us feel very welcome. Tried a pint of Otter ale which was delicious but the Addlestones cider was just amazing! Love it. Can't wait to return.

The Prince Albert, Ely

Love this pub. Perfect place to sit and chat over a pint as there isn't any background music. Out of the way of the chav holes in town. Does a wicked pint of Stowford Press.

The Cheshire View, Mow Cop

Marstons Pedigree was awesome! Sat and enjoyed a few pints of that with some pork scratching and soaked up the amazing views. Pub was a bit dirty but didn't really mind because the beer was so good. You might want to book a taxi to get you back up the hill afterwards though, it's a bit steep!

The Red Lion, Soham

Awful!

Full of undesirables, quite a few people smoking 'herbal cigarettes' in the back yard and all the chaps seemed to be queuing for the cubicle to powder their noses every time I went into the Gents.

The Hereward, Ely

A right old mess! Every manager that has been and gone from this place need to learn a thing or two about customer service! Also, most of the punters in here a drunk, local chavs with Reebok Classics on with the trackies tucked into their socks.
Only positive point is that last time I accidentally fell into this establishment they were serving Brains SA, although I don't really like it, it was better than the Stella ;-)

The Hansom Cab, York

Fantastic pub to sit in and read the paper while watching all the crazy old locals arguing with each other... Very cheap... Toilets were a bit manky!

The Anchor, Little Downham

New owners have recently moved in and and redecorated, the place looks great now! Just need to start serving a few more local ales, as I'd rather use the other village pub to get a decent pint. However, if I fancy a few lagers and something a bit more lively then this is the place... IPA was ok...

The Bakers Yard, Cambridge

It is the only pub in the area that seems to serve St Edmunds North & South!
Most of the staff are pretty attentive and pleasant but there is 1 woman that has to be the grumpiest old blighter I've ever encountered!

The Plough, Little Downham

A rarity these days, a proper village local with proper friendly local people in it. This pub not only serves great guest ales but also serves a decent pint of lager, which is very rare! Also has a great Thai menu. A pleasure to eat and drink in!

The Minster Tavern, Ely

Cheap food, lazy uninterested service. Decent deals on beer, half decent crowd.

The Ship, Soham

Packed on a Friday and Saturday night, chilled during the week!
