The Swan Inn, Reading

Found this pub by a lucky satnav accident! Good beer and homemade soup! Lots of interesting pictures and documents on the wall. A proper old pub!

Queens Oak, Finchampstead

Good pint of Brakspears. Is in hands of caretaker manager until 11th April when a new landlord starts, so no food at present.

The Nightingale, Ash

Didn't know it had closed. Very sad its has gone but don't criticise the change of use as pubs are businesses. If we don't support them with our custom enought to make them money then good luck to the restaurant owners who take over. Let's get real!

The Crown and Cushion, Blackwater

In response to the comments about the curry, the menu clearly states Thai curry which is a world away from the Indian curry, that customer obviously expected. The Thai appetisers and curries are about the best I' ve had outside Thailand, maybe due to the Thai chefs.

The Fox and Hounds, Little Sandhurst

We love the fact that this pub continues to be there, so off the beaten track! A welcome watering-hole at the end of the walk. Obviously well used by locals. Darts/quizzes etc.

The George and Dragon, Swallowfield

We went for an early evening meal in April, having once had lunch here. An old style pub with the emphasis on food. Good beers on handtap.
Good variety of food, including 5 vegetarian options.
Excellent service.
Obviously popular as two thirds full at 7.30.
Rural setting though quite near Reading.Next to footpath for walks. We'll be back!
