The Blue Posts, St James's

On 21st March, a friend of mine and my fiancee's, visited us from Newcastle. It was their 1st time in London and we went for something to eat in The Blue Posts, after we visited Piccadilly. It was a small and old fashioned pub, but it was nice. However, when we ordered food, the bar staff could not understand some of the words that we were saying. We ordered two tuna and pepper sandwiches but asked for onion instead of pepper on one of them. They failed to note this on the till even though they supposedly said that it would be OK. It came with peppers after 45 minutes of waiting (45 minutes for a sandwich!). The pub was'nt busy for food orders, so there was no real excuse. I ordered chicken and bacon on bloomer bread, it came on a bun. If I wanted a chicken and bacon burger I would of asked for it! But it had took so long that I ate it through sheer hunger. The female waitress huffed and puffed when we sent back one of the sandwiches, and then paraded the bar with it asking her 'supervisor' what she should do? She was very rude and spoke little English (we were in London!). At the ended of the delayed meal, we asked for a complaint form or email address. The staff just looked at us like we had 3 heads. I asked who there employer was (because it was not advertised or displayed anywhere) he replied 'I dont know'. He didnt even know who he worked for. 1 out of 5 for service, 4 out of 5 for the beer, 3 out of 5 for the food ( oh and, the chips were cold!)

The Greyhound, Carshalton

The Greyhound, I believe, has been a good hotel for some while now, well that's what regulars tell me. I'll start with the Swan Bar- comfortable, quiet, full of familiar faces and has a real open fire. Recently the Swan has been opened up through to the restaurant, regulars did not take to this lightly. They can now hear the other bar and the customers chunnering away in the restaurant. As we all know, people dont like change, in some instances. If things dont need fixing, dont fix them. People have actually boycotted this hotel/bar because of the changes in the Swan. That brings me to the main bar, mentioning change:- This bar is the heart of the building, it shows live sports (noise), has mixed clientel(NOISY YOUNG and quiet old, which clashes) and recently refurbed to look like a smoking lounge at the House of Commons (green leather and oak coloured tables? Yeah thats modern!). I'll sum up... This hotel, needs to look at change for the better, not worse, it is expensive, the staff can be rude (and recently 4 KEY staff have been dismissed but not replaced, that answers FLYNN1's question).'Oi ,Greyhound', change your ways or lose your revenue, which is primarily good honest citizens who want to relax!
