The Lord Moon Of The Mall, Whitehall

Probably the best Weatherspoons I've ever been in.

The Wellington, Waterloo

Fairly reasonable pub, owned by Marstons pub chain. Decent beers, reasonable prices, service isn't too shabby. It's a good place for a little refreshment before or after a train journey or to meet friends to watch a sporting event due to the large number of screens.

The Beehive, Walworth

Cracking pub. (I'll admit I know the owner but I'm not swayed by this.) Excellent real ales, great food, friendly staff, superb selection of Whisky, and bags of room outside. The only downside is the location, bit of a walk for me, although that is probably a good thing as if it were closer I think I'd end up in there most nights!

St Christopher's Inn, Borough

Much improved from the rather shabby late night drinking hole it used to be. Semi late licence still but none of the chavs that used to ruin it. Beer is passable (I've had better locally) but isn't cheap. By far the best option for a late drink in the area but don't expect anything special.

The Ship, Borough

Food is ok, not quick mind you. But the Fullers beers are excellent and the prices are a great improvement on other pubs a mile up the road. Nice little beer garden too. Still a bit old man and dog, but don't let that put you off.

Shh you lot. It's terrible, don't go!

The Rockingham Arms, Elephant and Castle

"There tend to be 2 types of Wethespoons. Either some quite interesting conversions in unusual buildings or beer warehouses full of people counting the days to their next giro. This is very much in the second group."

Have to say that hits the nail on the head. It is a bit of a dump, mainly because of the clientle. When it first opened it was actually rather nice, good range of cheap beers, but management changed, staff became lazy etc.... it went downhill faster than an Olympic skier.

The Kings Arms, Waterloo

Great Beer, good location, fantastic (and very reasonable) authentic Thai food. The only problem is that it does get VERY busy and it isn't cheap.

Kings Arms, Borough

Good pub, well kept beer, staff are ok and good prices. Only downside is there is no outside (but that goes for most London pubs).

The Fire Station, Waterloo

Quite a good pub/restaurant/bar, good beers, reasonable service and prices and open later than most as a bonus (midnight I think at weekends?)

Dover Castle, Borough

Hard to recommend other than the late licence. Why don't more "normal" pubs have them? No proper beer, some decidedly dodgy (borderline psychopathic) types in on the weekend, avoid except for a quick late pint during the week.

Belushi's, Borough

Had my umbrella nicked in here, not fun as it was raining cats and dogs outside, and another time the "door staff" tried to throw my sister out for objecting when someone had spilled her entire drink.... Full of tarts and chavs on the lash now. Used to be ok, but it has gone down hill rapidly over the years. Oh and no real ale at all only some Nitro keg muck, but you're better off with the Guiness.

The Blue Eyed Maid, Borough

Shabby pub. Beer is okish, but you do get an odd crowd in here, especially "after-hours" when they have a late license at the weekend. I wouldn't bother with it at any other time, too many other better pubs around in the area.

The George, London Bridge

Gets very busy and like most pubs around this part of town isn't cheap! Great building, reasonable beer, staff are mostly ok.

Doggetts Coat and Badge, Southwark

Reasonable pub, bit confused sometimes with so many bars and it's a shame that the tables are mostly out the back as it means the views aren't great. But good beer and not too expensive.

Founders Arms, Bankside

Not a bad pub. Like most of the ones on the Southbank that is now so painfully trendy it isn't cheap. But the beer is good, the location superb and lots of outside space for a summer drink. Be warned though, it does get VERY busy!
