The Smithfield Hotel, Manchester
Without doubt the best PUB in the "northern quarter"(whatever that means).Real Mancunian accents, real well kept ale, no pretence. Just sit & listen to the locals ripping into one another with no malice. Classic pub.(Notice a for sale sign outside, hope it won,t alter). My first 9/10,would give it 10 but it leaves me nowhere to go.Can,t understand why I have never reviewed before, must always have been to p***ed to remember.

We have just been in this evening after quite a while of walking past to the SMITHFIELD. 2.60 for half of Frambozen is far to much. Will continue to walk past.

Agree with oftenscore6 about beer and dogs.At one time dogs out numbered humans. At least they wern,t playing card as in the painting.None the less a good night.

The Clive and Coffyne, Market Drayton
Poor. All real ale had run out.Already ordered my wife,s drink so had to sit and watch her drink that.

It is now the dearest pub my wife and I have been in for our round of pint of bitter(Landlord)and a Bacardi and coke(splash).5.15 City prices in the sticks.Overrated.Next time we are passing in the narrowboat we shall continue to pass. And the Landlord was flat.

Agree with alanjherron about the knobheads who hog the bar where the guest handpumps are.The beer is very good once you can see what they are selling

If there is a better pub with better beer I don,t know it.Less than 3 for a pint of bitter & a bacardi & coke(over 4 in the next pub we visited in Marsden)

The Stubbing Wharf, Hebden Bridge
Called in last sat night after leaving this pub of our Hebden crawl for several months. The pub seems to have changed hands now serving a good selection of well kept real ales and reasonably priced meals.Lets hope it gets back to it,s former glory.Give it a try.

The Fox and Goose, Hebden Bridge
Unpretentious real ale house serving 4 or 5 top quality beers of various ABV,s.Cozy and any pub with a poster of J.H.B.behind the drums has got to be o.k.

Only go in this pub once a month on our travels landlord always lets on and has a natter and a joke plus he is behind the bar most unusual these days.
Oh!nearly forgot the beer is superb too.Wish it was closer.

The Rat and Ratchet, Huddersfield
Great choice of well served real ales with a smile and a thank you.Just what a pub should be.

The Head of Steam, Huddersfield
Surly staff, overpriced beer & soft drinks & not very
good quality. Why do people drink in there when there
are much better pubs around i.e.Grove,R&R,Station &
Wetherspoon,s.Don,t bother going.

Nice pint of Taylor,s Havercake.Bit pricey at 3.65 for pint and small fruit juice.

The Rams Head, Denshaw
I thought this site was beerintheevening not foodintheevening. The Tup as this establishment is known to us locals is now more of a restaurant that sells beer rather than a pub that sells food. Made to feel unwelcome when just! going in for a drink.
