The Lord John Russell, Russell Square
A nice little place, always busy enough never rammed. The beer is well kept, the staff freindly and is in one of my favourite parts of London.

I think the previous poster got it on a good day. Make no mistake, it's rough.

Simply dreadful and they dont show all the sport that they advertise on thier web site, 3.50 a pint is inexcusable and has to rank as one of the worst places I've ever had a drink in in my life.
0 is too high a rating.

IT's just so joyless, it serves good beer, decent food but when I go out for a drink I like to enjoy myself and have a laugh, not read the Observer.

The Lamb and Flag, Covent Garden
an ok pub and decent for covent garden. The beer was very average indeed, and the usual 'IPA's off' and not bothering to change the barrel put me off a bit. Still I didn't expect a great deal

The Vat and Fiddle, Nottingham
Agree with previous poster, and the harvest pale is a smashing pint.
13 Jun 2008 11:17
Since it was burnt down, it's gone up in my estimation, excellent potential for residential development?

First visit on Friday night and there was a great choice of ales, particularly enjoyed the Rebellion.
26 Nov 2007 15:57
Visited this place last friday, beer not the best by any means.
5 Oct 2007 13:17
the beer is dreadful, but it's a music venue so what do you expect, I've seen some good bands here.
21 Aug 2007 13:10
Full of chavs if you ask me, low rent morons giving it the big 'un becuase thier paying well over the odds for crap food, typical range of bottled beers with crap service. The bouncers are neanderthals
21 Aug 2007 13:03
If going to an old mans pub means not having to encounter some braying powder snorting chav who rates themselves then fine.
What would the previous poster know about standards the drinks in there are terrible and over priced.
8 Aug 2007 14:31
IT'S NOT A PUB !!, I CANT RATE IT BECAUSE IT'S NOT A PUB.
7 Aug 2007 10:37
It's an all bar one, I was dragged here on a work do, I like a few after work, not in here though.
7 Aug 2007 10:36
The Barrowboy and Banker, London Bridge
Again, better places around, staff pretty good , but lacks atmosphere.
7 Aug 2007 10:35
Very enjoyable place, yep it only does Adnams,so what I'm a an Adnams enthusiast.
7 Aug 2007 10:33
Lizard lounge - full of snakes and two bob millionaires, the draught is undrinkable, and the bottles warm. Dreadful even by Lace Market standards.
7 Aug 2007 10:21
Prententious beyond belief, went in thier with my girlfriend who writes bar reviews which means I get dragged into lifestyle bars, the kind of place where the previous poster goes.
I really dont want to be in the in crowd, if it means poor service, neanderthals on the door, and paying over the odds for below average drinks, by the way you might get a Forest player or two in thier.
7 Aug 2007 10:18
tacky and pretentious, a poor combo. Very very overpriced
7 Aug 2007 10:14
Full of students like all of Lenton. If you're a student that's fine. Beer ok at best.
3 Aug 2007 12:59
An absolute gem of a place, great beer brewed on site keeping prices down, staggeringly good value as well.
3 Aug 2007 12:55
Fellows Morton & Clayton Ltd, Nottingham
used to a regulat haunt of mine, always enjoyed a few in there
3 Aug 2007 12:54
Not the same Griffins Head I was in 2 months ago then.
The beer was ok. The previous post reads like it was made by the licensee
3 Aug 2007 12:43
agree with Simon the editor, if you go for a walk in this area and I recommend you do, stop off for a couple. I do love those snob screens.

Another one of these celeby pubs, often full of to$$ers and wannabees. I dont mind the guiness, and the posters on the wall are intersting.
2 Aug 2007 16:58
nice little place off the beaten track and all the better for it, decent pint as well !!
2 Aug 2007 16:55
Bills itself as a late venue yet shuts at 11. Decent venue, cant remember the beer.

The Waiting Room, King's Cross
It's a hotel bar, so will always be lifeless, I think people are being a bit unfair on that basis, as I'll never stay in the hotel i'm unlikely to ever drink there, though I've been in the once.

ok for a couple saturday afternoon, the food is average, decent place to watch sport, staff pleasent and place is generally well run, which is more than can be said for the vast majority of London pubs.
2 Aug 2007 16:41
Went in there with my then heavily pregnant girlfriend, who asked for a well done steak only to be told the chef likes to cook them rare. This place really rates itself, but in reality is full of middle class students who like the sound of thier own voice and are little more than grinning idiots.
I've always had suspicions that venues post comments to bump thier rating and it would come as no surprise that this place. I do go here a bit not because I like it but because it's not the Unicorn.
A dreary souless, dull dull pub.
2 Aug 2007 16:34
prententious and tacky like so many bars in the Lace Market.
2 Aug 2007 15:26
nothing funny abot the prices or is that the owners laughing all the way to the bank ?
2 Aug 2007 15:25
If you want a bottle plunging in your face then this is the place. Nasty, cheap tacky dump
2 Aug 2007 15:20
Staff are dreadful beyond belief, when I complained that I had been waiting 20 mins while the staff served theier pals who came in I was told I'd be thrown out. The manager is inept and unable to do what his job title suggests he should be doing. Dont bother, EVER.
2 Aug 2007 15:16
On the occasions I've been there my requesting a drink at the bar was a poor second to said member of staff messing with her ipod. She then got the order wrong (after all it was 2 drinks) then moaned at me for changing my mind (which I didn't), later on my order interrupted her texting someone.
People think pubs in Camden are great because they're in Camden, this is not a great pub, it's ok no more than that
2 Aug 2007 14:51
real fuuny name ....not. You'll be hard pudhed to find a decent place to drink round Liverpool Street, this place no different.
2 Aug 2007 14:43
Qiue like it, proper pub type place, is it a good proper pub though?. not really, but ok for a couple after work.
2 Aug 2007 14:40
Thw wind blows hot and the wind blows cold, I really dont know what to make of this place, I've had a couple of good nights in here, other times it's so full of 'pretentious music journalist' types.
2 Aug 2007 14:39
very good range of beers, Thai food decent, the best pub in Bulwell/Basford by a country mile.
2 Aug 2007 14:25
The food is fresh out the microwave, the beer dreadful. What worries me is the locals take thier kids into the (busy) smoking room with them and no-one bats an eye.
2 Aug 2007 14:21
What would make this pub better?. The word demolition springs to mind. AN ABSOLUTE DUMP WITH A BAD ATMOSPHERE. Still the feral folk of Bulwell have to drink somewhere.
2 Aug 2007 14:20
Worth the effort to get there, good pub, good atmos, good beer. Gets busy though of a summers eve.

The London Pub, Bloomsbury
It's in London, it's a pub.
A very poor pub though.
