The Drapers Arms, Barnsbury

This place is very expensive and I really cant see why other than the location. The beer was fine when I went in but the food was very overpriced and the service sluggish at best.

The Old Queens Head, Islington

Not my favourite place in the area... I found it very overpriced and pretentious. Lots of posers when I went in.

The White Horse, Soho

Ive been in this place loads, its a bit of a centre of town local for me. The service is always good, you can almost always get a seat and its cheap.
Some of the weirdest experiences of my life have taken place in this pub. Usually has lots of strange patrons and tourists.
The food is typical pub stuff, but the portions are insane. The Tuna Melt in particular is a monster. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Pity about Sam Smiths no music policy though.

The Chapel Bar, Islington

Went to this place last night to see some live music. I didnt find the music bad at all, but there were no ales of any kind and the Guinness was pretty average.
What I did find was that the service was pretty poor. At one point a barman accidentally stuck a broken ashtray into my back!!
I would probably go back for the music, but certainly not for a quiet pint.

The Hemingford Arms, Barnsbury

I'm lucky enough to call this pub my local. At first glance, this pub appears to have everything; good character, nice selection of beers, good music.

However, the more I go into this place, the more I dislike it. The service is not very good, the brunette barmaid in particular is the worst barmaid I have ever experienced in London. I have visited this pub many times now and she is always (and I mean always) in a foul mood, some of the gems she has produced are as follows;
1) refusing to serve a friend who simply asked for a packet of pork scratchings (because he wasn't ordering a drink - I was buying the round!)
2) walking away when my girlfriend was deciding what she wanted to drink (the pub wasn't busy at all)
3) Never ever greeting me or my flatmates with a smile or even a 'hello', despite the fact we're in there every other night.
It's getting to a point where I dread going to the bar for a pint.

Saying that, the pub quiz on a Thursday is always good value (1 per person) as is the Bluegrass session on Monday (Free) and Thai food (great value), but if the service maintains its current level, I'm seriously considering heading elsewhere.
