The North Star, Ealing

Good pub and good food. But bar service is really slow, and that's consistent. They just don't have enough staff, ever. Also I've been there a few times when they seem to run out of beer after beer. Still a good place to go, but expect the service to be slow and you'll have a good night.

Tiger Tiger, Piccadilly Circus

Nice looking restaurant, but food was piss poor, and that's a compliment, not the place I'd go for a night out. If you get passed the bouncers vetting you on the door (we're talking men and women!) then you have to deal with fat birds begging you for a drink. Didn't anyone tell women it's unattractive to ask for drinks.

|f you plan a good party night out, why do you want to have to keep turning up and the front door telling the bouncers they are with you do they can get in. Waste of time, and waste of a good night out. I'm being nice here. Our company wanted to have a night out here for all the staff and I threatened to leave the company if they did. Suffice to say they didn't have the company christmas party here.

Ginglik, Shepherds Bush

Wow what an excellent place, only reason to come to shepherds bush. Cool, friendly crowd and great varied music. Always enjoyed this place and seem to strike up a conversation with anyone standing nearby. No attitude and not pretentious, just simply in my opinion the best place in London.

Lowlander, Covent Garden

Well don't organise a party here, booked a table here and they lost the booking even though we booked well in advance and confirmed many times. Then when they found the booking we were told that they didn't expect us ALL to turn up so booked a smaller area! As a result it messed the whole evening up as we had nowhere to sit. Maybe good for a drink or two but not for a party booking.

The Devonshire, Chiswick

Bit off the beaten track, good walk from Turnham green station towards the A4. Food was good, well presented, but pricey. I still left there hungry after a 3 course meal since the portions are small. Maybe your typical gastro type pub but I like good food, and reasonable portions. Wine choice was excellent though and decor was well done. Service was also superb. For nearly 50 pounds a head I've eaten in better and cheaper places. If you're local then probably a good place to go.

Not sure what was up with the mash though, it tasted like smash, looked like smash as well. I'd have thought being a Gordon Ramsey pub it'd be unbeatable, but I think my local pub has better food (George and Dragon in Acton).

The George And Dragon, Acton

I've eaten here a few times, it's not your average pub food though, it's more of a gastro pub but with excellent food. Last night I ate at the Gordon Ramsey bistro pub in chiswick (the Devonshire) and the food there wasn't as good as the food I've had in the George and Dragon. The portions are good and well presented. The dining area at the back is beautiful as this pub was recently renovated with money from the English Heritage foundation.

I'd recommend this pub to anyone from Ealing/Acton that wants a top rated dining experience. Don't be put off that the pub is in Acton since this really is one excellent place to eat. It's best to book though since I turned up very hungry once and couldn't even get a bowl of chips since they were so busy.

Also they have Pixies and Arcade fire on the duke box! :D
