The Black Prince, Kennington

Recently went here after avoiding it for years. Last time I went in around 2006 it was a hostile place with rubbish beer, where the regulars would
Go silent and was very awkward.

The place is now completely different - good range of ales, welcoming staff and a cute little smoking terrace round the back. Will definitely be coming back!

The Tommyfield, Lambeth

This place clearly spent a lot of money on the decor and it does have a cosy dimly lot ambience. Only two real ales - kept ice cold unfortunately. Full of the same crowd who
populated the former White Hart.

Food is not as special as they sell it as. Its basically pies burgers and steaks. Just about value if you go with a half price Taste card deal.

The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

Visited tody and had an excellent pint of Crouch Vale Blackwater Mild. I hear Hackney Council have designated the street part of a conservation area now so it's not going to disappear any time soon.

Unfortunately they had the radio on - and tragically no more salt beef sandwiches! Apart from that it's good to see that some places never change.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Maidstone

full of hospital people most nights from the accommodation across the green. lovely little place for a pint, though they never have spitfire on handpump preferring the more bland masterbrew.

The Warrington Hotel, Maida Vale

I really hope Mr Ramsay doesn't ruin this unique pub. Though the decor might not change, the atmosphere undoubtedly will. Am going to go her as much as I can before we lose another great London pub.

The Rake, London Bridge

Opened by the folk at the excellent Utobeer stall on the nextdoor Borough Market. Allegedly London's smallest bar, it also has some decking outside.

Quite pricy and *all* the beers are chilled a bit much to the same icy temperature, but a fantastically wide selection of bottled beers from around the world - there's nothing much like it in London.

The Old Red Lion, Kennington

mock tudor frontage (if that's your thing), this pub is on CAMRA's national inventory of pubs worth preserving.

The Fire Stables, Wimbledon Village

This place is very much at the gastro end of gastropub. In fact, I'd say it's pretty much just a restaurant. Food is high quality and prices reflect that (30 or so for dinner and half a bottle of wine or thereabouts), but for the same price you could do better.
