The Chicago Rock Cafe, Basingstoke

Well, where do i begin....After queing for a quater of an hour the door person stated it wasn't worth the money, BOY WAS SHE RIGHT!i was confronted in the main bar area by what can only be described as the extras from Micheal Jacksons 'Thriller' video. The place was heaving but i assume thats because its the only place in Basingstoke with a 'Late Licence'(past 12 o clock :-)) a positive was the cool old floorfillers from the DJ which, i assume is because the average age of the clientelle seems to range from about 15-50. a weird mixture indeed. But as we saw everybody we had interacted with that evening in other bars i guess it is the ONLY place to go. SHAME!!Oh Yeah, then i took a leak and was charged for the pleasure by some chap in the toilets!!i emptied my change and promptly left. I still don't think the dust has settled.

The New Vic, Weymouth

A real family orientated bar with a kids play area at the back and generally friendly staff. Its nice and spacious with a dining area at the rear. Look out for 'Chicks Karaoke'on saturdays That guy is the best karaoke operator i have seen in the area. Set in nice clean, comfortably seated area, a real giggle. Very popular with the Grockels (holiday makers) Lovely seating area outside if you just want to watch the world go by.

Excise House, Weymouth

I love this place,in a lovely setting just off the harbour with excellent food ,in a seperate eating area, and a good selection of beers at the bar that isnt over priced but its crowning glory is its live music.(look out for splinter!)
This place gets real busy at the weekends but the atmosphere is great and non threatening. It boasts an electronic bowling alleys and bar football in an adjoining area so great for the family as well.Staff are non-too-tardy at serving, even on busy nights. The locals love it so what better recommendation can you get.

The Dorothy Inn, Weymouth

Saturday Nights: Always loved this pub as it is frequented by a more mature clientelle.Upstairs has a cool dance floor and a more intimate setting with lots of thumping classic disco tunes. Downstairs is a bit more crowded ensuring it as one of the must go places for a late, late drink. The only negative is the Karaoke operator on a sturday evening who doesn't seem to be able to handle a crowd. The staff are always busy and its a bit of a fight to get to the bar but the entertainment value alone makes it worthwile. Take your granny, she won't feel out of place.
