The Wellington, Sheffield

Popped in over the weekend to find a lovely old style pub with courteous staff and friendly locals to match. The Neepsend beers were on top form. The recent refurb has been carried out very sympathetically just like the Blake Hotel. It's just by the Shalesmoor tram stop so no real excuse for not going.

The Eagle, Cambridge

An interesting old pub but GK I'm afraid. GK seems to have cornered the market in Cambridge and around. There are many better pubs - if you can find one that's open that is.

The Burgoyne Arms, Sheffield

Sadly it's all converted to flats now. It must have been a very imposing and comfortable pub.

The Hillsborough Hotel, Sheffield

A very nicely looked after pub easily reached by tram fron Sheffield. Good choice of beers and knowledgeable staff, comfortable and spacious.

The Bath Hotel, Sheffield

A very nicely preserved pub slightly off the beaten track but probably all the better for it. Good choice of beers and knowledgeable staff, comfortable and cosy.

The Tap and Tankard, Sheffield

What no revies of this great city centre boozer until now? Can't think why as it's a great little place with a good choice of cask ales and a friendly atmosphere. A must visit when in town.

The Yew Tree Inn, Malin Bridge

Well it's a Champ's Sports bar now. Sad.

The Hadfield, Sheffield

It's a bloody Sainsbury's now.

The Anglers Rest, Bamford

It's been a while since I last dropped in here and I can only say that it's continued to improve. There is a heroic band of volunteers who look after the general maintenance of the pub and the resident landlady Amanda keeps the beers on top form.
There are some regular beers and a couple of well kept guest ales along with simple but very tasty food. It's a real community asset and the efforts of all concerned deserve a round of applause. There have been many online detractors who only seem to complain, but notably none of them seem interested in making any effort to improve the place, so in my view it's all power to the community who do make the effort and long may it continue. Top marks for trying!

The Blake Hotel, Walkley

My first visit to this pub and will not be my last. It's been beautifully restored retaining much of the original features and therefore its character with three distinctly separate areas. There is a good choice of real ales and bottled beers, there are newspapers and board games, the staff are knowlegeable and chatty, the clientelle are friendly and civilized. My idea of the perfect pub.
