The Bell Hotel, Ticehurst

Visited on a Friday afternoon. Lovely, funny, pub with jolly barmaid who was very friendly and welcoming, worth visiting just to see the quirky decor. Ladies and gents loo's spotless with lovely soap. Unfortunately driving so couldn't sample the beer but partners Guinness very good. Will be going back to try the Harvey's .

The Chequers Inn, Battle

Pulled in to the car park to find a man urinating up against the back wall then walked through a crowd enjoy some pungent "Herbal cigerettes" to enter the pub. Barmaid on duty busy talking and hugging a friend to serve, after she had finished she walked along the bar asking if the several customers waiting wanted serving, gave her my order to my amazment she then went and served another one of her friends instead ! My sister who had nipped to the loo returned to tell me they where filthy. We decided to try elsewhere. This used to be a lovely pub but seems now full of teenagers and the barmaid was more interested in talking to them then serving customers.

The Salehurst Halt, Robertsbridge

My favourite country pub,I had a friend who lived up the road and discovered this gem to my delight, unfortunately my friend moved away from the village so I cannot go as often as I used to. The menu is always a mix of traditional local, wonderful fish cakes and the different (Goat curry) My Joy is the Dark star and Bidendens cider on pump (potent) both beautifully kept. The pubs best feature is a beautiful patio and garden to sit and enjoy the views I cannot think of anywhere nicer on a summers evening.

The Bridge Inn, Winchelsea

Stopped off for Sunday lunch big mistake ! Roast dinner was ordered by myself and my partner both meals were below average for the cost. The roast potatoes were Aunt Bessie the cauliflower had strange taste of vinegar obviously pre cooked and kept in a solution to keep the colour and the carrots were well past their best.
The service was very good and the waitress very helpful in getting me gravy as it had been overlooked, unfortunately it was so salty I gave it a miss I just wished we had done the same to the food
