Spotted Cow, Poole

With the neighbouring pubs jacking their prices up yet again to almost unaffordable prices, this place does have its attractions. Some brilliant real ales on tap at times which makes a change from the overpriced ubiquitous Ringwood Best which nearly everywhere else seems to serve. Nice to be able to buy a couple of pints for less than 4 after being ripped off in the Lord Nelson for 2 pints of dishwater.

The Foundry, Poole

Good little locals' pub, but beer horrendously expensive.

The Angel, Poole

Excellent ales but probably one of the dearest pubs in Poole. Most beers now in excess of 3, some of which can be found in the nearby Wetherspoons on Poole Quay for 1 a pint less.

Is this place shut for good?

The Lord Nelson, Poole

Now the most expensive pub on Poole Quay after yet another hefty price increase. 3.30 for a pint of bland tasteless Hall and Woodhouse bitter? I don't think so. Try the beer next door in the Jolly Sailor-it's both better and much cheaper, and, unlike the Nelson, the Landlord actually talks to his customers.

Made the mistake of going in this dump last night-the evening was ruined by a bunch of retarded drunken morons, including off-duty staff, who managed to virtually empty the pub of 'respectable' customers with their foul language, arm wrestling and dancing on the seats and tables. Why on earth does Anna the 'Orrible (the landlady) tolerate these dickheads, especially one permanently pissed half-wit know locally as 'Pete the Poof'?

Why on earth have Hall and Woodhouse let this place go to rack and ruin? Its run by an anti-social self-obsessed landlady who has a job to even speak to her regulars, the staff are bunch of scruffy looking chav freaks who look like they could all do with a good bath and the beer and food are vile and over-priced. This pub could be an absolute goldmine with the right person in charge and strict door control.

What a vile shithole! Avoid at all costs!

Must agree with Runningdog. Compared to years ago when Joe and Nellie owned the place, it is now just a bland, characterless eaterie that 'also' sells drinks. Have got happy memories of this pub in the 70s when you could thump the old railway seats and see a cloud of dust billow up. People used to come hear just to be insulted by Joe and woe betide you if you told him his beer was off! He'd belittle you in front of the whole pub! He wasn't too keen on people asking for ice if their bottle came off the cold tray. 'Ice costs money to make you know. Bloody people - they go in these fancy town pubs and get ice whether they want it or not!' Also, he sold Marstons Owd Rodger-1080 gravity-brain damage!

The Owls Nest, West Parley

Used to be the private Brackenhill Country Club years ago. Beer and food normally excellent although the clientele can give the place a bit of a 'God's waiting room' feel!

Have to say (and I'm in my mid-fifties) that this 'pub' is the biggest craphole I've ever been to in my life, and that's been against some pretty stiff competition over the years! As soon as you walk in, you get the feeling that any second, you could end up with a glass in your face. The whole place is shabby and run-down, the staff useless, the beer disgusting, the toilets even more so and the clientele the absolute pits. Worth a visit just to see how bad it is!

Le Bateau Bistro, Parkstone

Full of archetypal Ashley Cross wannabees mostly called Nigel and Fiona. Staff indifferent, beer choice uninspiring.

This place should be shut down on health grounds. The whole place, especially the toilets are filthy! The staff are mainly a scruffy, not paricularly hygenic bunch who seem more intent on messing around with each other than serving the vastly overpriced bland Badger beer.

The Royal Oak and Gas Tavern, Poole

In the right hands, this could be a brilliant back-street local. Seems to have improved since Paul, an obnoxious little scouser, left. Clientele rough and ready.

The King Charles Inn, Poole

If you're thinking of visiting this place, don't bother - it's normally closed. What a way to run a business!

The Holes Bay, Poole

If you're thinking of going here for a meal, DON'T BOTHER! The staff are rude, surly and indifferent. Customers are made to feel like they're just a nuisance, the microwaved food is bland and uninspiring and you're lucky to be eating an hour after ordering. What a useless craphole.

The Fleetsbridge, Oakdale

Trying to think of something good to say about this place but can't! Just another run-of-the-mill, characterless carvery with indifferent staff. It serves mediocre food to an undiscerning clientele, who all seemed to be armed to the teeth with their cheap meal vouchers! The beers are generally bland and nondescript. The best thing about this pub is jumping in your car to leave!

Made the mistake of trying sausages and chips in this place and regretted it! The chips were still frozen in the middle while the sausages were burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. On complaining, there was no apology, just indifference. The locals were all up in arms last night because the charismatic (NOT!) landlady had just introduced a 1 admission charge after 9 p.m. Result? The pub was nearly empty, while the Jolly Sailor next door was heaving. Shrewd business move, Anna!

The Angel, Poole

If you like decent real ale, this pub is for you. Normally has about 4 Ringwood ales on plus a guest beer. Good place for a pint and a quiet chat, although it does have a bit of a 'God's waiting room' feel about it.

The Oyster Quay, Poole

This place is the ultimate in bad taste with a chav-type clientele to match. On Friday and Saturday nights, takes up most of the local Constabulary's resources as the fighting chavs spill out onto the street. Why can't Richard Carr confine his characterless tacky bars to Bournemouth where they belong?

Spotted Cow, Poole

Have got mixed feelings about this place. The real ales are normally in excellent condition, albeit too cold, and cheap. Service is often dismally slow-there never seems to be enough bar staff on. Tables remain stacked with dirty plates and glasses for hours on end. Due to the low prices the pub tends to attract the lower end of the local clientele. If you like microwaved food, this place is for you-only steaks etc are cooked fresh-you may as well buy yourself a Billy-no-mates meal from Iceland for 1 and microwave it yourself in 8 minutes rather than waiting up to an hour for it to be 'nuked' in this pub when it's busy!

The King Charles Inn, Poole

Sadly, what used to be an excellent pub years ago, has turned into a complete craphole, with clientele to match. The last few years have seen a mediocre selection of landlords come and go, all starting with good intentions of cleaning the pub up,and all failing dismally. On two evenings last week, including Saturday night, the pub wasn't even open. If you're thinking of visiting, unless you're 16 with a baseball cap, don't bother!
