The Blue Lion, Bracknell

What a change .....the manager has gone on sick leave, and a relief manager, Marcus, has taken over. Cant believe whats happening, the placed has been really cleaned up. It was previously filthy, as could be seen from the filth on the cloths used to clean the shelves alone.

The beers now taste better than ever, the pipes have been cleaned. The Banks beer actually tastes like fresh beer

Lets hope the old landlord never returns.

Watch this space.

Well, here we are again, and this pub has not changed, in fact it may even be worse than first thought.

Some recent observations include visiting the gents, the landlords in there doing his 'stuff', and low and behold, he leaves without washing his hands. How disgusting is that? And this pub serves food. (and, no he didnt, wash them behind the bar instead)

Also, there are a couple of 'herberts' who continually 'drop their guts', stinking the bar out. Well you wouldn't want to be eating in there! And all the landlord says, is, please go outdoors next time.

So there you have it.

If your in for a quick pint of the badly kept beers, then it probably wont worry you. (this pub has never been seen to be cleaning the pipes, which can be seen being done in other pubs on odd occasions, when the barrels need changing)

This has to be one of the worst pubs in Bracknell when it comes to the cleanliness stakes.
The toilets must rate as the worst in Britain, the gents had no flushing of the urinals for at least 3 months, the stench was incredible. Although the water situation has now been fixed, but the rest of the area is filthy.
I'm surprised the local health dept allowed them to serve food.
I will monitor this on my odd visit to the area and post urther comments.

The Old Hatchet, Winkfield Row

Recently visited this pub on a Friday evening for a beer and meal.

The Fullers real ales cannot be faulted, kept in great condition and a few to choose from. The staff were freindly.

BUT, the food is something that really need attention, the 'Prawn & Crayfish' starter had no crayfish, and the 'Rib Eye Steak' was awful. The steak was the smallest I've ever been served, and the accompanying onion rings were the most greasy I've been dished up.

Not a pub to be recommended for food in this very up-market area, especially as there are 3 other excellent pubs serving food within a mile of this one (the others also serve some good real ales too)

New Leathern Bottle, Jealotts Hill

OK, there was a great welcome by the 2 girls working the bar.

The 2 real ales on, were very well kept, so all ok there.

BUT the food was something else, it was not at all good.
I had a Sunday roast of pork and it was awful. There was no taste in the food and it seemed to have been cooked by a complete novice.
One of my family had chilli and chips and that was tasteless also. The burgers were another tastelees item.

The one thing this pub needs is a proper cook/chef, or even a part time mum, to make the food presentable and tasteful.

We came here around a year ago, and thought we would give it another chance, but nothing has changed.

A saving grace is that there is a reasonable fenced garden for kids to play, which, come to think of it, is why we met the family and grandkids there in the first place.

Oh well, it will be the Duke of Edinburgh, a few miles away next time, when food is required.

The Green Man, Bracknell

I have visited this pub on many occasions over the last 12 months and I am disgusted with the way the Courage Best and the Guest Ale are served up.

Every time I visit, the barman tries to give me a glass which contains slops/overspill, which he then fills up with fresh beer from the pump.

You have to keep a very keen eye on whats being done.

I thought this practice had been made illegal.
