The Fiddlers Elbow, Brighton

popped in for the match on Saturday, turned out they weren't showing it although advertised. Place was a mess. Shame - another one bites the dust.

The Fiddlers Elbow, Brighton

back again, this place has a great facelift via just the reorganisation of seating it seems! same management and staff, very friendly and chatty. Drinks selection has gotten even better with harvey's on cask (not sure when this happened but assured it's on all the time now)

Food is good and well priced and the toilets have been snazzed up since I was last here - and saw a great duo playing when we were there on weds. all round one of the best pubs in brighton

The Cricketers Arms, Berwick

beautiful surroundings, the journey from brighton is more than worth it for the ale alone!

great staff, great service and a fair selection of mains and specials, reasonably priced - you get value for money on al fronts

dog & child friendly, this lovely lil' pub is well worth a visit

The Barley Mow, Brighton

Shame. Have heard lots of great things about this place over the past few years, popped in for dinner this evening and left disgusted.

1) forced to change seats twice due to pervading urinal fumes in main bar, complimented by fruit flies EVERYWHERE.
2) overly long wait for food when kitchen trade didn't seem that busy
3) paid 25 for 2 mains and 2 pints and was forced to complain on both meals - i think an 8.25 bangers and mash should be pretty top notch, but this is probably the worst pub meal I have found in all the years I've lived in this city, my wife ordered portugese chicken, and the poor poultry had suffered far too long in the microwave, retaining 0% moisture, whilst accompanied by corn on the cob that must have sat in water for days.

although the manager was apologetic, we were offered no refund other than a couple of drinks which we had no inclination to stay and consume, leaving our food and drink to go in search of somewhere more satisfying.

A lovely day in this part of town soured, the owners/management must be aware of the potential damage their kitchen must be doing to their trade. Pubs like this exist on reputation for only so long.

We will not be going back.

The Fiddlers Elbow, Brighton

This is one of the last real pubs in brighton, it's right up there with the Basket Makers and the Evening Star for its lack of pomposity. Good music, nice people, but it is a shame about the toilets (i hear rumours that the bogs are being refitted tho... please)

Great Guinness.
